Ok just for conversation, who on this year's team is apart of the long-term future and who is trade bait? By long-term I mean a guy who the front office is not considering trading before 2014 and believes could be a starter on this team when it tries to contend again. I put 2014 as the year because I think by that point a lot of the Minor league talent will be in Bigs and the will be the year in which we hopefully have identified our " young core."
My take:
Long-term: Altuve, Dominguez, F. Martinez, B. Wallace, Paredes, Lyles, Castro, Harrell, anymore?
Tradeable: J. Lowrie, Greene, Maxwell, W. Lopez, Bogusevic (don't know who wants this guy), S. Moore,
On the fence: J.D. Martinez, Norris, M. Gonzalez, Schaefer.
I'm not saying the tradeable guys should be traded, but offers should be entertained for them. They are all in their late 20s and none of them are super reliable or have years of proven output. Maybe if one of them has a great year next year and you can keep them for cheap into the future then he should be kept. But if you can get multiple young guys for them in return then you make that deal. We don't need to keep a bunch of near 30s on the team when we need to be evaluating young talent.
