So I've bought Astros tickets over the phone once a few years ago. I got a call from the Astros last Thursday from a guy who introduced himself as "your personal Astros ticket representative. " He let me know that they're really excited about their 50 years of history......and their move to the AL. He invited me to come down for a stadium tour and then to talk about all my options for season tickets. I had to politely ask him to call back some other time. The whole comment about history and moving to the AL just made my blood boil.
Fast forward to yesterday when some aggie football season tickets became available. I jumped on those without hesitation.

I'm not proclaiming Schafer to be the next great CF for the Astros, but keep in mind that he is four years younger than Bourn. In Bourn's first full season in the bigs, he batted .228 with a .288 OBP and 41 SB. He was 25. In Schafer's first full year so far, he's batting .219 with a .307 OBP and 26 SB. He's 24.
Let's see how Schafer finishes the season and progresses from here. I don't think it's a huge stretch to think that he might develop into a .285 hitter. Like Bourn did, he needs to adjust his approach at the plate. If he can do that, I think you'll see a significant jump in his average. If he can't, he'll find himself in someone's minor league system.
I really wish we would just cut Bogusevic. Everytime I see him in the lineup I die a little inside. And it's even worse when you have Brandon Barnes and Jimmy Paredes in the OF in AAA who are hitting over .325 and this jackass is flirting with the Mendoza Line with 5 HRs

With our bullpen its understandable to trade for pitching if you think you can get something. NExt time we might want to do homework first though.
Yeah it's not identifying the need for pitchers that has me upset. It's the fact that we traded for ****ty pitchers who don't help us at all that makes me depressed. I can't stress enough how happy I am that Luhnow is now in charge and Ed Wade can't **** us over anymore

I'm at the Corpus Christi game vs Midland tonight, and I really like the middle of the lineup with Krauss, Singleton and Borchering. Robbie Grossman is also a very talented CF with a good approach at the plate. We have acquired some talented prospects down on the farm.
Unfortunately, SP Matt Heidenreich didn't have a good outing. Allowed 5 ERs in the 1st inning and didn't even record an out before getting pulled. 7-2 Rockhounds after 3.

I'm currently in VA for work, so I'm getting to watch the 'stros on the Nationals network. It's always interesting to hear another perspective on your team.
It's always fun to hear the mis-pronunciations of names. Last night when they were previewing tonight's match-up, they went through a few iterations of pronouncing Keuchel, but they've got it sorted out tonight.
They've been sort of "understanding" of our current situation. Had some complementary words for Lunhow and talked about how difficult it is to keep the fans interested in coming to the park, etc, etc. Talked about the similarities between our current stretch of 2 straight #1 picks (potentially), and theirs; but how they really lucked out with the quality in their #1 picks (Strasburg and Harper). They were able to acquire Edwin Jackson only after they were unable to sign their 2008 1st round pick Aaron Crow. Plus they were able to draft Ryan Zimmerman only after releasing Alfonso Soriano. Trying to make a point about going through some growing pains to successfully rebuild.
Nothing ground-breaking , I know. But I'll continue to be interested to hear what they have to say about our lowly Astros.
