Check out Fat Carlos' comments on the Dodgers trade. Not only is he fat, lazy and not driven to win, he's also a ***** that can't man up and face tough questions about being scared. What a waste.

Greg Lucas has a video on his blog this morning about how a similar situation to the Carlos Lee no-trade happened in the 80's with Alan Ashby.

Summary: Astros want to trade Ashby to the Pirates for a player and to make room for Biggio to become the #1 catcher. Ashby refuses trade. Astros waive Ashby (pulling him off the bus as they were about to leave on a road trip) and pay him the remainder of his $500K salary that season.

Too bad Cabra Gorda's contract pretty much excludes that option. I guess the fans will just have to boo his ass every time he takes the field.

Luhnow still has the option of pulling a Billy Beane and trading Carlos for soda and sunflower seeds to a team not on his no-trade list. Getting anything for him is better than nothing. Hell, getting rid of him period and paying his whole salary is better than keeping him IMO at this point.

Next year we should be seeing guys like Villar, Singleton, Barnes, and most likely Springer getting called up. I dont see it being any worse. It might not be better, but the potential is growing through the farm.

Unfortunately I think we are in the process of growing 1-2 players succesfully and most likely trading some of them away at their peak to continue to stock the farm.

I'll be surprised if Johnson, Wallace, Lowrie, Villar, Paredes, and Martinez are all with this team in two years. I bet we see half of them moved for more pieces.

Jordan Lyles...I trust he still has a lot of confidence in himself, because his career numbers to date could be a downer for him:

4-13 w/5.38 ERA

it's going to take 3 or 4 years to clean up the back of his baseball card so to speak

I almost wish Lyles would be sent down to continue to develop whatever his "out" pitch is going to be. He cannot generate swings and misses.

It's the right thing to do to start him. There's still a slim chance you can dump him to someone desperate and therefore needs to be playing. I also think it would be a bad move from a clubhouse morale standpoint to sit him. May lose a lot of respect from the rest of the guys.

Be a professional and let him play, hope you dump him later on, and let him walk at the end of the year.

BTW...this bullpen night in and night out is absolutely painful to watch

We used to call him (dangerous) Doug Henry because when he came in the astros lead was in serious danger.

I can see playing him through the trade deadline, but there is absolutely zero reason to play him after that except to let Wallace rest. It's not unprofessional to bench a guy that is not in your future plans with 2 months to go in the season. The Astros don't owe him anything except a paycheck, and he's shown that's all he cares about getting out of the next 3 months.

No. Mike Hessman is the full time AAA starter and he is mashing the ball. If anything, I think we see one of Jonathan Villar or Jose Martinez move up.. guys that are having pretty good years. Singleton's massive slump is probably going to keep him in AA all season unless he can mash out of it in the next month.
