Lyles is just mentally and emotionally fragile. If he allows one or two runs in an inning he freaks and allows three more. He went through the Rangers lineup without allowing a run through 4, but once Texas scored that first run he gave up 4 more. He needs to limit the big innings and he could be good

I feel your pain Irish. Just like I am hopeful Sumlin is the right coach to get our football program back to prominence, I am hopeful that Luhnow is the right GM to bring the Stros back. We just need to be patient.

I hope it will come one day. The combination of Texas A&M and Houston sports have left me extremely depressed for quite some time now

Yeah we have to be patient. I watch every pitch of the Astros and can probably name 90% of every minor league roster, so my fandom runs pretty deep. So it kills me that we've lost 18 of the last 23 to them. Its nearly unbearable up here the last 2 Octobers with the playoff success they've had.


I had 3 hope for this Astros season and only 1 have anything to do with competition.


1. Kill the 2012 draft. (Too early to say, but I think we can mark this one "checked" especially if/when we sign McCullers).


2. Destroy people in trades at the deadline. (After Luhnow's Quintero/Bourgeois trade and the Melancon for Lowrie trade, I feel pretty confident in this)


3. Win the boot. I know it's meaningless, but back when were having runs in the 04/05 area, the Rangers fans acted like the Silver Boot was at the Mecca of sports trophies. Everytime I was enjoying an NLDS or NLCS win, I would be reminded of the Boot. I didn't give a **** about it then, but I would love to return the favor. But we suck too bad for me to have that chance.

Lee would be a decent pickup for an AL team contending for the playoffs who are looking for a DH to give them another threat in the lineup. We would probably have to pay a good amount of his salary, but he could bring us a prospect or two in return, and as Bond pointed out Wallace is certainly deserving of more playing time

Wow. Colby Lewis throws a whole bunch of trash and we are swinging away. The only one taking is Lowrie and the ump sets the precedent that today's strike zone is huge.. at least when the Astros are batting. Lets see if our rookie in his first start gets the strike zone the Rangers guy last night did.

I'm scared that once the Rangers hitters adjust they are going to sit on that slow curve and smash it. Lets hope he keeps mixing up pitches and locations. I want to see one high and in about once an inning.
