Maybe Christopher Nolan has been secretly trying to bang Lupita N'wongo for a long time and this was the way to do it, like Spielberg did casting Kate Capshaw in Temple of Doom, except Lupita is actually a good actress.

Welcome to the internet. I follow a few subreddits and it never fails that, even on the most unrelated topic you can imagine, those lunatics will somehow start melting down about Trump and spewing just awful *****

The Little Mermaid and Snow White are worse than this despite being fewer pages. At least with this movie, there was considerable interest. A bunch of men in their late 30s-50s arguing over the skin tone of fictional princesses in a movie geared towards little girls is an internet low.

Mermaid thread had about 2-3 pages of ugly racist posts reviewed in one day. I think it still supercedes this thread in pure hatred of a person playing a fictional character because of their physical appearance.

My point is, I really thought we'd be past this by now, given the progress over recent decades, including 2008. Are we regressing? It's just distressing to see all these reactions.

Those of us who understand how difficult it is to launch a big budget, sprawling Hollywood epic are appreciative, and I really hope many on Reddit / X and some posting here come around.

As things stand right now your domestic in my opinion is a pretty solid guess as well as the total domestic and worldwide. Could always change but that's a good start.

No way Damon gets nominated for Best Actor. I love the guy but every role he is in that isn't modern day America he looks out of place.

I am in the exact same situation. Everything I have read and knowing Nolan's film history, indicates it is R because of violence/gore. But I have not seen anything definitive on that front. I am going to go ahead and plan to take my 14 year old with me on opening night

The MPAA rated it R for Violence and Some Lanugage.

While I'm very happy with the casting of Helen, one of the reasons I'm committed to supporting the film, If Nolan really wanted to be bold, he might have instead reclaimed the Odyssey's original status as a song. In ancient Greece, this was not a text - few members of its audience could read. It was performed. Sung.
