I'm trying to figure something out. How is support or non-support of this type of action a democrat or republican position? I think republicans support it, and Dems oppose it, because Trump did it. If it was a democrat president doing it, the support/opposition would be flipped.
With the exception of social issues, everything else, is uniparty.
I'm relatively ambivalent about this action.
You've hit the nail on the head.
Most Americans couldn't give a flying eff about everyday politics as it is, much less global politics. So this will, at most, just be another news story to the masses. A story they'll forget ever happened by their next meal.
And, yes, if Trump had a D by his name, the left would be supporting this and the right opposing it. Politics 101.
Untrue:
When Obama was CINC and we got OBL, it was supported by all. The worst thing said was, "at least he did something right, gotta hand it to him". Then he continued to fail after that.
If Biden or any other Dem had pulled off the Iran Nuclear strikes, Rs would have begrudgingly agreed and celebrated the victory (at the very least). Not like when the Dems palleted up chunks of money to send to Iran.
That's the problem and has been the problem for quite awhile. Rs, in general, can appreciate when something is done for the good of the country or world. Ds and CMs (hint: they are both the same) denigrate anything done by the opposing party and especially OM regardless of it be right or beneficial to mankind.
