should the US oppose chinese expansion in the western hemisphere? or chinese expansion in critical industries and raw materials, to the point of monopolization? or their potential invasion of taiwan?

First of all if you are so concerned about the Chinese maybe stop them from invading our farm property and other industries in our own damn country. They have bought thousands of acres of land outside of militates throughout the US and we have done nothing about it.

And how are we supposed to be taken seriously about opposing Tawaiin being invaded by a foreign country when we are doing the same exact thing literally. If anything we just gave a green light to China to take Tawaiin off the board

the US executive has immensely more constraints within the US borders than he does in foreign policy. the US remains the global hegemon, but internally we have huge chaos, and the MAIN reason for this distinction is because of this reality.

complaining about the President doing something objectively useful that strengthens our geopolitical position, increases our security, increases our leverage in our own hemisphere (extending a multicentury doctrine) while HURTING ALL OF OUR ENEMIES SIMULTANEOUSLY is complete nonsense.

get the "rules based order" childhood fairytale out of your mind. we don't give china "permission" because we knocked off maduro. they dont need "permission". if they could swing it, they would do it. there are NO rules in geopolitical grand strategy.

this actively reduces their ability to invade taiwan, materially. not by some childish notion of "you did it first". they can say that all they want while they can't fight because theyre cut off from food and energy.

Never mind the complete dissimilarities between the Maduro situation and both China/Taiwan and Russia/Ukraine. But, yes, we very much CAN push the reset button in Venezuela AND assist in repelling Chinese and Russian hostilities where we deem it beneficial to our interests.

That's why we're referred to as a SUPERPOWER and why Russia no longer is and China has yet to (if they ever) establish themself as one.

Invading and occupying countries without religious zealots is far easier. The people can easily be bought with money. Very few will die for Venezuela or Cuban land once we give them money. Meet peoples basic needs and you control them.
