Maduro is a cartel leader who happens to be a dictator. This isnt an act of war. Its using our police force to capture a cartel leader. He is El Chapo with a title control over a country.

Except that Chile and Panama turned out for the better. My brother went on vacation to the DR last year so that seems to be ok as well. I have other friends that have vacationed in Guatemala.
I can't speak for Nicaragua although I hear it's a pretty good surfing destination for that part of the world.
Cuba didn't work out though.

The one thing it has going for it is that it is not a fourth world Islamic culture. It's a generally Christian based culture that used to be the most successful in South America. There are millions of people still alive who remember what they can be. The Islamic world does not have that muscle memory. VZ does.

Sure, it sends a message to Colombia, the epicenter of the drug problem. Of course, that's this year's message. Last time around the Colombians learned that as long as they're not commies, we fully support the drug trade. The cartels may have to become capitalists to keep their jobs this time. Just don't make any deals with China and you can keep the coke flowing.

AF Post reporting refineries were also targeted/destroyed, if true there were some "bombings". AF post could be wrong though.

Yes, and justifies all of this as far as I'm concerned. The Western Hemisphere needs to be Fortress America, frankly. It's high time we prep for that as de-globalization continues to unwind and we settle into a bi-polar world run by the US and China.

Some have been allowed to remain on work permits, but it's all going to get phased out now (hopefully). Some of their better people have actually been here following the rules, but many clearly will need to go back now:
