It was pointed out multiple times that he never ran on no wars. That was something a segment of his supporters ascribed to him that his statements never backed up.

Apparently Argentina has an international warrant out for his arrest as well, so if he gets off in NY, we should extradite him there....

Apples and Oranges from our perspective, but China doesn't see it that way. It's entirely plausible to think they could take this as a sign of aggression and feel like their hand has now been forced to invade Taiwan just like Putin felt with Ukraine and the NATO situation.

China has already said they were going to invade Taiwan and by 2027 to be exact. So I see this as somewhat logical fallacy since you simply take them at face value and don't let what they've already said dictate what you should and shouldn't do to protect your own country in your own backyard.

Also, the entire western world has a strategic interest in Taiwan and we've already said we would defend them and so has Japan.

Hell, the UK Defense Minister told China they would nuke China if they did it.


Can you please share a link to China proclaiming their military strategies and even timelines to take Taiwan? I don't think they would share that information with the world but maybe I'm wrong.

Pretty open sourced during Biden administration. Around 2022 I think. PRC was pretty open about their 2035 plan to retake Taiwan. Then that become a 2030 and after our pullout of Afghanistan debacle it became a "we will be ready to take Taiwan by 2027." PLA set its military modernization goals at 2027 to coincide with the PLA centenary. They are also dropping new carriers in the water and setting up depots as well as making strong footholds in space. This all coincides with their goal and timeline to reunify. And all of this is on the google machine and has come straight from Xi and their foreign secretary.


Google is pulling reports from US intelligence that they believe China intends to take Taiwan by 227, but no official statements or claims directly from China claiming this.

My position though isn't that they will invade Taiwan solely because of our actions, but we are giving them the excuse they think they can use to attain what they ultimately want. Putin did the same thing blaming NATO presence in Poland as his reason for invading Ukraine but in reality he just want to do it but waited for the good reason to present itself

I have a high school friend who is living in Venezuela and has for years and said he was given a heads-up to stay away from the capital last night and he did. He is OK. I don't know from who he was warned.

This was his initial message:
I am safe.
Warned in advance.
Free Venezuela.

Then when asked about information and Cabello and Lopez he said:

"Thus far all information is being severely repressed locally but there will be in the following hours many, many rumors and false information so try to stick to official news reports from the White House. Cabello is in El Furial according to sources but he is said to have an escape route via Guiria but that has not been confirmed. Diosdado is a bigger target than Maduro."

He is a big supporter of Trump as well.

I'm happy watching my longtime friend born in Venezuela who's father, some siblings, and other family members still live there rejoice all over her social media today. Her feeds are full. She's posted so many videos of her people celebrating. I read your post and think what dog does this person have in this fight that anyone should care about this opinion? I don't think it's necessarily a dumb point to make. Whatever elements of iranian, Cuban, Chinese, and Russian intelligence are in Venezuela will do their best to cause chaos. If they can't have the primary influence over the government then they will just try to destabilize everything.

The plan for the day after is every bit as important as planning for the day of. I don't doubt we have significant inroads already made to stabilize the country after Maduro is gone but it's not an easy thing.
