for those who are just waking up to this reality, this was spelled out clearly in advance in the WH recent national security strategy doc

https://www.whitehouse.gov/wp-content/uploads/2025/12/2025-National-Security-Strategy.pdf

specifically:

Quote:

After years of neglect, the United States will reassert and enforce the Monroe Doctrine to restore American preeminence in the Western Hemisphere, and to protect our homeland and our access to key geographies throughout the region. We will deny non-Hemispheric competitors the ability to position forces or other threatening capabilities, or to own or control strategically vital assets, in our Hemisphere.

Quote:

The United States must reconsider our military presence in the Western Hemisphere. This means four obvious things...[including]...targeted deployments to secure the border and defeat cartels, including where necessary the use of lethal force to replace the failed law enforcement-only strategy of the last several decades...

Just don't follow Paul Bremer's huge mistake in Iraq. Don't fire all of the Baathists that actually ran crap there. Keep those functions (such as they are) going with US oversight. I'll get into post WWII Japan in a minute. But also important to note that the other massive mistake in post Saddam Iraq was the flock of hundreds and hundreds of NSOs going there getting federal handouts from USAID and other federal sources. They just impeded progress creating more problems than they solved.

Now we left Hirohito in place in Japan during the post war occupation. Work more behind the scenes as opposed to a conquering state. We ended the war in the Pacific but did so without taking Japan's land as our own.

The Concerned Moderate "dictator" experts are now clutching their pearls over an actual dictator being deposed by Donald J Trump's Administration.

SAD!

Find a new narrative, losers. It's winning time.

The "no new wars" president strikes again

Well, that's up to Venezuela isn't it? He told them that th drugs being shipped to the USA was going to stop one way or the other. They are killing THOUSANDS of Americans DAILY. I stand with Trump on this. Mexico should get the same treatment.

How can so many people blue star this? This is about oil and China, not drugs. If it was about drugs, we'd be invading Mexico, Colombia, Panama, and Ecuador.

Well, stand by and we will see. It appears we may be on a course to clean up our hemisphere! Would that bother any rational American?

No, but invading Venezuela because you don't like drugs is like invading New Mexico because you don't like Mexicans. I mean, close, but not really.

Hopefully we aren't sending mixed messages to Colombia, where law enforcement and intelligence have had opposite goals.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever read.

Trump mentioned certain incentives for the oil companies coming to work VZ. But unlocking more oil could further depress oil prices. I wonder how all that will be balanced? I know most big IOCs have stated a $30-ish/bbl breakeven in West Texas, with prices at 57 currently, I wonder how a fully unlocked VZ would affect global oil markets.

First thing I thought when I saw this, this morning.

There is quite a range of prices for a barrel, interesting that Venezuela doesn't show up here.

Your obtuseness on this is galactic level. Did you read the thread?

See my posts and others who have already laid out in multiple posts why we are doing this.

You are honing in on "drugs!" while utterly ignoring the in your face geopolitical realities underway literally right now. You are also ignoring official DOW Strategic Doctrine.

I mean, goodness dude.

Obtuse means I am pretending to not understand a position. As I commented earlier regarding a meme, diagreeing does not mean not understanding. Stated differently, not agreeing with your position doesn't mean I don't understand it.

The polarizarion of our country leads to this stance of, "If you disagree, you must be too stupid to understand." Hopefully, we can fix that someday.

We spelled it out on repeat.

As Hegseth said, "He effed around and found out".

This successful action is bigger than surface value due to how it was so perfectly executed. It confirms that the big stick is real and not just political sweet talk to appease some with empty threats

Been pointing this out for days/weeks but several posters on here want to remain willfully ignorant of reality.

Venezuelan dollars will rebuild Venezuela.

Sure, money will be made by restoring operations that had been captured previously. Venezuela exports to enemies of the US will now stop and also lower oil prices here.

Thought it was said China will still get their oil? Or was that not accurate?

Unsure on specifics. Also, unsure as to what that means actually. What degree of oil interests are going to be returned to old owners? Will that mean that current Chinese agreements are no longer valid? Or is it a simple, China may buy oil as of now moving forward

We can balance it by selling Ukraine Tomahawks to use against Russian O&G facilities.

Tell Ed Harley on Texags...Trump has no substance -

-Nicolas Maduro, probably, on his unsanctioned flight to the USS Iwo Jima.

You can still cling to your ******ed narrative that Trump is falling asleep during meetings though, and Ignore the fact that the vegetable that you voted for was too stupid and sleepy to even convene said meetings, or had his dumb**** wife sit at the head of the table.

I think there are multiple facets (1) Venezuelan oil will now follow US embargo policy, meaning if you are on the naughty list, you have to find your oil elsewhere (2) If you are not, you can buy it at market prices.

In short, any quid-pro-quo going on with Russia/China/Iran is over and the money received for the oil will go to the companies who produce it and the people of the country.... no longer to the dictator's coffer.

Another reason why Cuba is now on the clock. They were getting heavily discounted oil from VZ. I'm quite sure their regime is ****ting their pants right now and has been on the horn to Russia all night and morning trying to get them to commit more resources.

Good point. Cuba and Columbia are have to both be highly concerned at the moment.

Russia won't or can't do squat while we have so many military assets in the area.

And this was not an invasion of VZ eventhough some libs use that terminology. Maduro should be happy he was not taken out by the CIA to a black site for rendition.
