If somebody else winds up in charge of Venezuela they'd better watch their step or Trump will take them out too.

This should be interesting. Wonder how Trump directs the Navy and Coast Guard to handle it…

"According to internal communications from Venezuela's state-owned oil company and two people in the Venezuelan oil industry, the vessels left port without authorization from the interim government led by Vice President Delcy Rodrguez, which was created following the capture Saturday of Maduro. At least three of the ships were in close proximity as they left Venezuela in the same direction, suggesting at least some coordination and a possible attempt to "overwhelm" the U.S. Navy and Coast Guard."

It's funny, the Fins just borded and seized yet another Russian cargo ship for dragging it's anchor across a telecom line, but we can't seem to do anything to grab/inspect/seize these tankers similarly.

Maybe? Whatever.

Sal has a YouTube video from yesterday discussing (TLDW: not sure if it will happen, needs to involve USCG not just military as it's law enforcement):

With nothing less than extreme prejudice I hope.

There's no reason our navy can't and shouldn't go after every tanker taking sanctioned oil to Russia. The same for any Russian vessel known to be doing anything that causes harm in any way to America and her allies.

I wonder if this is a function of right tool for the right job. I've still never seen what kind of USCG boat was pursuing this tanker that failed trying to board.

I wonder how the Fins boarded.

I hate the use of the word "enshrined". As if it were to be venerated and honored. The UN is none of that. The success of the UN has nothing to do with them, rather mutually assured destruction. The UN is only a meaningless sound bite factory and money laundering scheme.

100 percent agree. My Democrat wife was for what happened in Venezuela and taking Maduro. Probably because she is Gen X and knew what went down in Panama in 89. She said it is the same type of operation. These younger people dont read history or refuse to retain it.

My understanding is that US History has not been taught in school for several decades...like maybe 4...

I watch Jesse Watters, and the best part is when "Johnny" interviews college students...they cannot name a list of Presidents, or the current one, or name the 3 bodies of government, or who fought in the Civil War...if it weren't so hilarious, it would be sad and embarrassing...

And to think that these youngsters vote, and will run the country someday...

At least. Just like the Constitution isn't taught for more than about 8 seconds.

Because a dumb populace is far easier to manipulate and control than a populace that is actually educated or knowledgeable.

So Russia will be withdrawing to the internationally recognized borders with Ukraine so they can resolve their differences through diplomacy? Yeah, I thought not. Those UN rules are more like guidelines for "special military operations", eh? Would have been an epic troll of Russia for Trump to announce Maduro's capture and call it a special military operation.

Gunfire erupted around the Presidential Palace last night due unidentified objects in the air. Of course they thought it was some type of American attack so they started shooting.

They were their own drones.

Quote:

Was there a coup under way? The military rising up against the regime? Other members of the regime rising up against Rodrguez for playing nice with the United States? Even better, was the United States coming in for the round two Donald Trump keeps promising if the remaining regime members don't behave?
No. It turns out that it was none of that at all. It was apparently the Presidential Guard spotting unidentified flying objects overhead and unleashing hell upon them, probably thinking it was, indeed, the United States. But it was actually...wait for it... their own drones. These dudes were, by all accounts, shooting up their own equipment and wreaking havoc on the streets. You can't make this stuff up.

Then ask Congress to declare War! As a conservative we can't/shouldnt choose which parts of the Constitution we care about.

Mark Levin pointed out the founding fathers first gave congress the authority to "make war". This terminology was debated resulting in the authority to "declare" war.
The debate centered on the difficulty in response time due to the large size of the Senate and House(note the size in 1787 was tiny compared to today). The fundamental reasoning becomes the President has the ability to "make" war for national security.
The Founders' Declaration of War: The Declare War Clause and the Constitutionality of Undeclared War
  • This Note examines whether the Founders would have considered it constitutional for the President to initiate military action absent a congressional declaration of war. Analyzing the theoretical and political foundations of the declaration of war reveals that the Founders believed war powers are shared between the executive and legislature
ArtI.S8.C11.2.2.3 Make War and Declare War at the Constitutional Convention
  • In its report containing the first full draft of the Constitution considered at the Constitutional Convention, the Committee of Detail included a provision granting to Congress the power "To make war[.]"1. The assignment of this power to Congress and the clause's phrasing, which differed from its counterpart in the Articles of Confederation, prompted debate among the delegates.2
  • Charles Pinckney of South Carolina made the first remarks about the clause
  • Pierce Butler of South Carolina voiced an objection to either chamber of Congress being assigned the power to make war
So this debate is older than the Monroe Doctrine. And seems the Founding Fathers were one hell of a lot smarter than the current Democratic Party leadership.

The reason most artists are good at what they do is because they are very right braned, free thinking types - that is the more creative side of the brain dominating their thought process. Which is why they can strum guitars, bang drums, paint and sculpt, etc. so well.

So what this means is they aren't capable of a rational thought.
