Isn't there a Velero refinery that was purposed built for VZ heavy crude? Looks like this is a timely build: New Houston refinery
The article says it's in Brownsville and was built for shale oil production. Shale oil is different than that Venezuela oil. The oil from Venezuela is very viscous stuff apparently. The shale oil is a lighter crude that you would typically picture in thinking about what oil looks like.

You do realize that about 99% of the board understands this. I am not sure who you are trying to convince.
Drug Trafficking is also an important part of this.
And don't just post links.

It's 100% wrong. Unless Congress declared War Trump had no right.
I've been a loyal and proud Trump supporter but I'm completely opposed to this action.
Well intentioned or not we can't openly depose other countries leaders, or at least we shouldn't.
You can have the opinion that "we shouldn't have done this" but you are factually incorrect.
The president can, and should, invade a country for a period of up to 60 days at which time he must notify congress. By day 90, he must withdraw forces if not approved.
In this instance, he used the terrorist designation and the warrants to arrest a fugitive.
Whether you agree or disagree of those facts 1) 60 days, 2) terrorist 3) fugitive and 4) the right to self defense when conducting law enforcement duties, you are sadly misinformed.
If you also think this is the first time the Feds have arrested a terrorist alongside the military, you are also wrong.
Just because this wasn't the Middle East doesn't mean it's legally any different.

Maduro is gone.
And the media completely missed what actually happened.
This wasn’t about “international law” or “sovereignty.”
It was real power, applied in real time.

While Venezuela holds 303 BILLION barrels of oil reserves, much of this is HEAVY crude oil.
Texas and Louisiana also *happen* to have 6 of the LARGEST HEAVY crude oil refineries in the world.
What does this mean? Let us explain.
(a thread) pic.twitter.com/klfm4Lv2sy
good info.
From what I can remember, The US and Houston specifically used to take in a lot of the heavy Venezuelan crude, the Lyondell refinery on HW 225 in Houston was set up to take all that heavy crude oil. The refinery was sold and I'm not sure if it is even running these days. We can run heavy crude from down there no doubt, it would be great to mix with lighter condensate from the Eagleford most likely
That Lyondell refinery shut down about a year ago

That's what I thought.. I used to work for Lyondell at the petrochemical plants in Channelview and most of our feedstocks for our ethylene crackers came from that refinery. Crazy to see a refinery that big just shut down.

Quote:
Turning the tap on Venezuela news all the way open, now this comes out: The Venezuelan government-controlled oil extraction organization, Petrleos de Venezuela, S.A. (PDVSA) is having to cut oil production. Why? Because they are running out of storage space, and their exports have been cut off by the Trump administration and the War Department.Quote:
Venezuelan state-run oil company PDVSA has begun cutting crude production because it is running out of storage capacity due to an ongoing US oil blockade that has reduced exports to zero, piling more pressure on an interim government trying to hang onto power in the face of US threats of more military action.
Caracas is in political crisis under an interim government after President Nicolas Maduro and his wife were captured by US forces on Saturday. The OPEC country's oil exports, its main source of revenue, are now at a standstill following a US blockade on tankers under sanctions and the seizure of two oil cargoes last month.
Chevron's cargoes bound for the US had been an exception, continuing to move, because the company has a license from Washington for its operations. But even those have stopped since Thursday, shipping data showed on Sunday.

They only have 14 sanctioned vlcc. Venezuela can no longer export oil outside of citgo+ chevron. Venezuela was down to 500k bpd in December vs 1m before. I imagine that number is now close to 300k bpd without these ships. Alot of this oil is owned by a Chinese jv. https://t.co/v78UT3YXzM
