I'm glad Maduro is not longer president of Venezuela. He's destroyed a previously improving country.

I have concerns about us engaging in military action in a country any time we don't like the leader, are concerned about oil, or want the sycophants to get a hard on.

I also have concerns about pardoning the President one country who was involved in trafficking drugs while spending billions of dollars and major military assets to capture another. What's the story here?

He's not the elected leader of Venezuela. This will put incredible pressure on China, Russia, and Iran. It also puts immense pressure on Canada in terms of our negotiations with them. It also puts immense pressure on Mexico to do more to fix their cartel issues and Columbia to clean up their drug operations.

Is it all unicorns and rainbows? No but nothing in foreign policy is. What is absolutely is though is American interests taking precedent and there is no scenario that this isn't a better solution for the people of Venezuela.

Isn't the real story Maduro lost an election, refused to give up power, and suppressed his nation for a long, long time ?

Literally posted in this thread about Venezuela issuing fake passports and flagging private flights to Mexico as "diplomatic" in order to run drugs through Mexico.

Drugs follow the path of least resistance, not the most direct path.

To believe Venezuela is "way down the list" of drug trafficking in the Western hemisphere is… bizarre, inaccurate.

Yes, its a multi faceted problem. But, out of the narco states, Venezuela is perhaps the most influential because of their oil.

So, start with that. Make an example and the move down the list as necessary with parties unwilling to now work with us
