Turley is correct and oddly enough so was this judge. How Maduro came before him is not his bailiwick. Point is he and his wife are before him in his courtroom and he has jurisdiction over them.

Turley is also correct that CIPA cases take forever to go to trial because all of the evidentiary issues are front loaded during pretrial.

People need to remember there is no international "sovereign" therefore there is no international law nor means to enforce them. We have treaties and agreements but we are ultimately bound only by our willingness to remain part of those devices.

I recommend watching at least the first half of Nuremberg and understanding what an unusual, novel and quite tenuous concept the international military tribunals were. The movie is not focused on this in particularly but it gives a basic intro.

But to put a fine point… now that Maduro is in US custody he will be subject to US law.

Any concept, idea, debate and similar regarding whether Trump had the right to bring him to the US is moot. There is NO enforceable law, agreement, army etc that can undo what has been done. Trump acted within his powers of the US Constitution and if you disagree you can impeach and remove him.

And God bless Donald J Trump for having the fortitude to damn the torpedoes and steam ahead with this arrest.

I am not familiar with US and international law but I think there was a good legal reason why Maduro was taken into custody by the DEA and FBI. Most of the charges were drug related and will be easier to get those to stick. We learned our lessons from Chavez living a life of luxury after his arrest.

If I had to guess the DEA and FBI guys were probably former tier one guys and having them tag along was like having another team member.

There's also a great video on Mike Glover reacting to a Chinese spec op training/propaganda video. He is flabbergasted by the ****ty looking equipment the chinese use. Especially when it would be so easy for them to copy sucha huge amount from US SpecOps, which has spent the last 23 years perfecting their kit and procedures.

I have no idea about his political career but Tommy Tuberville certainly lacked principles while a college football coach. It is just a game to both sides these days. I remember the story of how he left 3 recruits at a steakhouse in Lubbock in the middle of dinner so he could leave for Cincinnati. They thought he went to the bathroom but he never came back. That shows me the character of that man.

So I've been hunting, celebrating Christmas at two different gatherings, and skiing, for the past two weeks until yesterday. The whole Venezuela thing wasn't on my radar at all until I heard a couple of references to it on the slopes. Is there a comprehensive link to the chronology and key facts anyone can provide? A lot of headlines and stereotypes of all these poor people fleeing the country with nothing but the clothes on their back, but the less reported truth is Venezuela has lost a lot of their professionals. A significant number of engineers, doctors, teachers, etc have moved out of the country and established careers elsewhere.

Even if they are somehow able to form a stable government with an open market approach to economics it would take a significant amount of time to rebuild the professional/expert class. Have to think a lot of those people may strongly consider staying where they are.

Any thoughts on whether Juan Orlando Hernandez's pardon relates to the action in VZ?

He was no fan of Maduro. Makes you think.

And why was Hernandez turned on when he was aligned with US under Obama and Trump.

Seems to me Biden was conspicuously pro commie all through Latin America. They wanted the whole hemisphere red.

People who knocked on Trump for that pardon may be missing key, dare I say yuge, pieces of the puzzle.
