Too many turnovers trying to build from the back as well. Not sure if we don't have the right players, if they are coached poorly or if they are just being lazy with their efforts to build up from the back.

Unai needs to go. Just like Wenger at the end no identity and frail in the back.

Crazy part in all this is that we could have had Pep if the board/front office would have cut Wenger loose a year earlier rather than backing down when he refused to resign.

Quick comment about the Leicester fans from the post game report on Arseblog:

"Sacked in the morning," sang the King Power, followed by a chorus of "You're just a **** Arsene Wenger".

At this point we are 8-9 pts (based on the finish of ManC game) out of 4th. Doubt a new manager would be able to make up that gap unless one of the current top 4 has a massive collapse. Best bet for CL at this point is to get a new guy in place that can give us direction and scheme and then dump all our efforts into winning EL.

I think the massive issue now is that you're about to the point now where players are going to want out. Neither Auba or Laca have signed a new contract and I believe next year is the final year for both which means they get sold next year according to new management. Torreira apparently might want out. Xhaka is done here. The players look like they have no clue what they're supposed to do and are starting to look like they don't care. The board has to make a decision now/soon. You risk losing your big names by keep a coach who is failing or you try to bring in someone new with hope that a breath of fresh air changes things.

The talent level is there, so there shouldn't be any excuse.

Agreed. And Enrique is one of the few that could step in midseason and try to help right the ship.
My concern with Enrique would be for his mental health. He just lost his daughter and our fans can be about as unforgiving as they come. Granted, not Madrid or Barca level toxic, but we aren't far off

Ki ke Marin is claiming that Raul has been in contact with Luis Enrique to gauge his interest in taking over for Emery.

Based on everything coming out today, Emery is here till the end of the season. We're ****ed

Not sure how it tends to be in Europe but the "vote of confidence" tweet looked alot like what we see when a NCAA coach is a dead man walking.
Sucks if we stick with him the rest of the season but I think it's pretty much a guarantee that he won't be back next season.

We stick with him the rest of the season and I don't have any faith that we will finish in a Europa league spot, much less Champions league.

Given the intelligence of our current management, I expect they'll wait until it's too late for a new manager to save the season in any way and then fire Emery.

Then we'll make another underwhelming hire that won't improve anything...

Was reading some stuff last night that was suggesting our 2 best options based on Raul/Edu's preferred style of play for Arsenal would be Brendan Rodgers or Jorge Sampaoli. Sampaoli is a very intriguing option based on his scheme and very offensive style of play. Biggest potential issue with him is that he does not speak English. The bonus to Sampaoli is that he is currently managing Santos and their season ends in about a month.

They added that they don't think Arsenal will consider a manager like Allegri or Mourinho due to their tendancy to have somewhat boring offenses. Raul & Edu have stated that they want Arsenal to play an attractive style.

Reading something this morning that is claiming the reason we haven't sacked Emery yet is because we don't want to go the interim route and are having a difficult time finding a permanent replacement available now (either been turned down or not the direction we want tactically). They go on to claim that Arteta is supposedly our last remaining desirable option before the summer but there is doubt that City will let him leave mid season.

Yeah I've read the same. Sounds like we're pretty much screwed. Also read that some people in the locker room aren't happy with Auba's relationship with AFTV (which to be fair, I hate those guys).

I think PEA is gone this summer. He hasn't signed his extension because he wants to see if we have CL next year. Even if we somehow secure CL he may end up being sold (RM & Barca rumored to want him bad) due to opportunity & rumored locker room issues.

If we con't secure CL, I'd bet Laca wants to leave as well. The potential issue there is that he may not performed well enough for us to get a favorable offer from anyone. Due to his relationship with Griezmann its entirely possible we could end up selling PEA to RM and Laca to Barca.

If we don't make a manager switch before Jan we could see both Xhaka & Torreira sold. And again if we fail to make CL, I wouldn't be surprised to see more guys looking to jump ship.

Lots of angles there but I have a feeling we are in for a total rebuild this summer starting with manager. It's actually not a horrible situation for a new manager because they get the opportunity to essentially hand pick their roster.

I see this coming as well. I think you're right that Auba & Laca are both gone in the summer and I've seen stuff about Xhaka going to Milan in January. I'm really hopeful that we can hang onto Torreira, but it seems he is pretty unsettled in England in general. You also risk losing Guendouzi who is incredibly close to Auba & Laca.

I think we may be looking like Chelsea in terms of having to play tons of youth next season and hopefully they can perform at that type of level. I just don't see us, even with a managerial change and selling big names, turning around and investing properly. We may be in a position where we sell 95% of our goal production and ask Nketiah, Pepe and Martinelli to make up the difference. Convincing some other big name striker to come here isn't happening without European competition. Ozil will still be here. The club is heading towards a train wreck of situation unless they somehow start performing again. The talent is there and its unacceptable for them to be playing this bad
