I don't see us getting another CB if we get Tierney. We may just try and push it with what we have.

About the only chances Lyon has were because of dumb and/or loose passes on our part.

That would help pay for Pepe, but would leave us even more thin at CB
We are supposed to be working on a loan for Rugani from Juventus
Sounds like Koscielny and Mustafi could be on their way out. We are really leaving ourselves short handed at the CB position if they both go. I saw that Juventus said Rugani isn't going anywhere due to the Chiellini injury.
Pretty bummed on the way Koscielny's career is ending and I wished it had been handled differently. I don't harbor any ill feelings toward him because he has been a fantastic servant to the club for nearly a decade, but this will leave a little bit of a sour taste in the mouth.
Wish him the best back in France and hopefully we take whatever money we get and get the Tierney deal over the line.
Pepe is confirmed at this point in my mind as he has been seen in London today at the Arsenal grounds for a medical. We just need to get some sort of CB help in as well as Tierney done.

Hell, if we end up with rumored 30+m from selling Mustafi & Kos we ought to pay the 25m release clause and Alderweireld. Not the ideal signing given his age but we likely won't find a better starter read defender for the price.

Reading some stuff on him from a guy that watches a good deal of Serie A. His take is that Rugani is not a physical CB like Sokratis, Chiellini, etc... but is exceptional positionally and uses that to shutdown offensive plays before they get started. He also had some stats that show him to be one of the best aerial defenders in Serie A. Per that poster, his issue right now is confidence and lack of game time.wangus12 said:

Also seeing some message board chatter that we may be going for 2 CB. Rugani would be a replacement for Kos and Boubacar Kamara would be a replacement for Mustafi.
I don't know if the logistics of all this play out well, but I think that I would rather us pursue one really quality CB than two. I will take two if we can find the quality and right deals and all that, but I don't want us to sacrifice quality for quantity here. The huge caveat to that is that Holding stays on track for mid September and comes back as effective as he was showing to be before injured.

I think Rugani could be the quality guy to pair with Sokratis and eventually Holding. Think the deal for Kamara could be a future situation. He is on the small side but he is only 19, very positionally sound and a good passer. I've seen many suggest that he and Saliba would be an amazing future pairing.
If this all panned out, we would be looking at Sokratis, Rugani, Holding & Kamara for next season with Nacho & Chambers as multi position options that can play CB.

Apparently we're selling Krystien Bielik to Derby Co. for ~10m which is pretty solid income for him. Hopefully that can help with getting either Tierney over the line or a new CB.
Hope they get a sell on clause in the sale but for 10m, I'd bet we don't.
