Lot of rumors going around that we are trying to loan Coutinho from Barcelona. While the player is great, apparently the loan fee is like 20-30m which is absurd if we are considering it.
We don't need more attacking options. We need ****ing defensive help. Still talk of Tierney, but Celtic just ruled him out for another 8 weeks with his groin injury which is seemingly becoming chronic.
Hopefully the club has something in mind to help the backline

I'm not believing the Coutinho rumors. Think it is Barca trying to drum up interest.
A) the fee is too high and makes no sense for our budget
B) unless we are selling Ozil, where does he play? That would leave Torreira, Xhaka, Ceballos, Ozil, Willock, Duezy & Coutinho for 3 DM/CM/CAM spots. Makes no sense.
C) while he is a good player, I don't see him fitting as an Emery 10 any better than Ozil.
But I I guess we could snag Coutinho and try to run the 2-2-1-3-2 formation...

Seeing that talks with Rennes over a transfer of Koscielny have stalled and Bordeaux are trying to step in and get a deal worked out.
Classic 2-3-3-2. I agree that the Coutinho move makes no sense and I think people are making the Arsenal connection because of Raul.
I don't know how to feel about the Koscielny situation. Seems to me that he just wants to finish his career in France, but how it's been handled has been very bad. To ask to leave for free when he knows the club is penny pinching is just dumb. Hopefully we can get some money for him.

Don't like how he handled it but there was speculation that Kos would opt to move on during Wenger's last season. Only reason I think he stayed was the Achilles injury. There was no place he could go until he proved he could play again.

I beginning to be a bit skeptical of a move for Tierney. I kind of think we would be better off focussing on CB this window and see if some new blood at CB along with better defensive CM cover (Ceballos) might make for better GA this season. I think we could survive another season with Nacho/Kola if needed.
I feel like we will be in the market for a cb and left back in the winter window. Nacho is one year older and a hair slower and kola was never a speedster. Teams will have success attacking our left side with pace unless we find someone else.
Honestly, if we don't sign another LB, I would be ok with moving AMN back over to that side once Bellerin is healthy.

Eddie Nketiah may be heading on loan to Bristol City. Emery had previously squashed rumors of Nketiah heading out but with the addition of Pepe (can play W & ST) as well as Bristol's reputation for developing young forwards, the option may be too tempting.
Rugani deal looked to be dead after have atleast 2 loan proposals rejected but now there are rumors that Juventus' sporting director is travelling to London today to work out a deal.

Seeing a rumor that Kos will have a medical with Bordeaux tomorrow.
Not happy with how the overall situation with Kos played out, but I am happy that he will be gone at this point. No need for that situation to be any more dramatic than it already is and turn cancerous in the team.
Sounds like we're getting ~5m for him. Jenkinson might be on the move to Nottingham Forest as well.

As with most seasons, looks like we have no depth. Is Bellerin healthy yet? So we'll have Sokratis and Holding at CB to start the season?wangus12 said:

Bellerin is expected back at the end of September at this point. Holding is expected back mid September but did play with the U-23's this past weekend, so he might be a bit ahead of schedule but I think is a no go for this weekend.
I expect Sokratis and Mustafi or Chambers to get the start on Sunday assuming we go with a back four. Those two plus Monreal if we go with a back three.

Koscielny officially gone to Bordeaux. Carl Jenkinson is now the longest serving member of the club.
Apparently Leipzig want ESR either on loan or permanent. Could become a piece in the Upamenaco deal. I don't want to lose him permanently because its considered to be pretty much the top prospect in our academy.
I expect our backline to be AMN-Chambers-Sokratis-Monreal when we play Newcastle. We've haven't played a back 3 all preseason.
