It's a bit irrational, I know, but Emi Martinez annoys me.
Everything he does seems so demonstrative, so exaggerated.

I'll never forget the goal he gave up against Reading in the 7-5 match in 2012. Completely unnecessary leaping dive for a save and the ball just falls into the net.

It sounds great but when a backup Spanish international (Vazquez) and first year Brazilian (Vinicius) are the most effective at creating chances it really shouldn't. Bale and Isco have motivation problems, Asensio hasn't found form.

Morning after that match and end of four game tour thoughts. I don't claim to be an expert on these things and will defer to others who know the game better than I do, but here ya go.
1) I think that we played overall and can consider the four match run a success
2) The fact that there were no substantial injuries - if any at all - is a huge plus
3) I don't really understand why Martinelli didn't get more of a run
4) Mustafi still sucks. Like, a lot.
5) I still feel like this team is lacking some identity. There just feels like there is something substantial that defines who or what this team is that is missing right now. I don't really know where that needs to come from, but it's just missing.
6) I would like to see us get to some more consistency formation wise and really start to impose our will on games rather than just forming our game plan to the other team. There is a balance there, I recognize. I do think that we look best in a back four.
7) I have ZERO idea what to expect for this season. We could be 3rd and could be 8th or anywhere in between. I do think it is going to be another up, down, and all over the place year.

So where does he start for the team?
Tough call. I could see home taking Xhaka's spot or Ozil's. My guess is he will rotate with Torreira, Xhaka & Ozil until something sticks. Assuming we can eventually sign him permanently, I like him in Xhaka's role. While he isn't a physical defender he is much better at anticipating passes and is just as good if not better of a DLP.
I think understandably wants to make it work at RM. I hope his time in London is a positive experience that inclines him to stay. I think he, Torreira & Duezy could be a dynamic 4-3-3 MF.

To be fair it sounds like they were targeting Ozil who might be one of the least physically intimidating players outside of Mahrez. They clearly wanted nothing to do with Kolasinac and rightly so.
True and by the sounds of it, they were legit after Ozil, not just the car. Just glad they're all ok and hopefully recover from the experience from a psychological standpoint.

Playing time and money. While we don't have CL now, we could easily have it next season if we can get the roster strengthened in the right places. Plus we can offer more PT assurances than any other team on that list and a better salary than anyone other than maybe Pool.wangus12 said:
