Actually, it looked exactly the same as the brothel Ava (and now Dewey Crowe) runs on "Justified." I half expected to see Raylan Givins pull up as they were leaving.

Same here. I have the feeling the Governor has something to do with everything. The "there's a war going on out there" comment in the 1st episode and then sending in the other 2 detectives along with MM keeping case details from them hints to me there could be something to the guy.
I gotta re-watch it tonight because I had some football beers and details are fuzzy....plus I need to make sure I didn't miss something in the scene where she takes her shirt off. I'm pretty sure I caught every detail but I just wanna be certain. Wow!

So far it seems like they're setting up MM as a suspect, but I think we can all agree that that would be a little too obvious. The two black detectives have mentioned more than once that "they're interested in the way Cole handled the case" as if maybe he intentionally led them down the wrong path because he had something to do with it. I don't think Cole is involved, but they seem to be hinting at it. Anyways, love this show so far and can't wait to see where it takes us.

I noticed that and was wondering the same thing...
I think just to illustrate he's a bit crazy.
Maybe he got exposed to a large amount of Gamma rays?
With all the drugs he's taking and took in the past maybe he's worried about heart issues.
I think it's due to his past work. He killed people, probably went off his rocker. He wanted to check his pulse to make sure even though things got testy there that he wasn't having a full-blown meltdown.
That's my best guess, and it's obviously something that we will find out more about down the road.

Something I noticed that I thought was pretty cool / interesting was that MM didn't have a mirror in his house except for a small circle that he could use to check his eyes. I don't know if that was meant to be anything, but it definitely had me thinking.

I toopk that as she was playing in the driveway on her tricycle, Rust should have been watching her but he wasn't, she wandered out in the street and got hit by a car.
But it is still ubiquitous I give you that. That's one of the things that's cool about this show, you can start to piece together the facts from their testimonies, but you never get the whole story at once, just bits and pieces like a whole second mystery going on at the same time as the real mystery.

I know he mentioned that they lived on a bend in a road which made me believe he wasn't paying attention to her rather than he backed her over (ala a show on AMC which I won't name unless people in here haven't seen it).
I like how this show puts past, present and future all together through flashbacks, stories, interviews, car rides. They just slowly reveal little by little about before they were partners, to during, to afterwards.
Very cool way to tell a story and develop these characters.

scene from next week's episode has me confused
Thought this episode moved things along at a quicker pace than the pilot. Seems like they added some music which helps. I also think MM is killing this role. Great to get some very riveting info on his character's back-story.

I also like how every important conversation about the case seems to happen in the car. This gets me excited everytime the get into the car because I expect a nugget being dropped.
And slow clap for the nude scene. Even got the wife's seal of approval as she happened to walk-in right as she flopped them out and said 'Man those are some tig oles'.

It was showing that whoever their killer is he was there at one point in time because the painting was very familiar to how they found that dead girl in the first episode.
Was watching with the wife. When THE SCENE started, I was staring at the screen, completely mesmerized. I looked over and happened to notice that the wife was smirking. My remark in my best nonplussed nonchalance:

It was a girl with antlers painted on her head with a pose similar to the dead girl. So, basically, the church on the flyer that led them to that location is likely connected to the killer in some way.
