The Amish had to build temporary housing for people because the government dropped the ball. FEMA of course tried to shut them down because they "weren't up to code". They also tried to take kids away from families who had no homes.

The area impacted is far more red than the rest of Los Angeles, although prob not as red as much of Orange County. These rich people could just easily pay the "weather tax" and weren't nearly as impacted financially by all of the stupid politics…it was still a very pleasant little enclave to live in. Bet none of them ever imagined such horrendous policies could affect them to this degree. This is going to wake many of the remaining affluent conservatives the hell up. Expect more exodus of good people and tax revenue for the state.

Not sure of the impact of building codes in Los Angeles County, but brick homes are crazy expensive to build due to extensive metal framing required to minimize earthquake damage.
