There is so much red tape tied up in this procedure and DEI incompetence I'm sure this is a huge problem. If it happened in TX people could much more easily send some cars out to tell people to evacuate. I'm not trying to be funny. I'm sure this is a giant cluster**** with CA policies and procedures.

Honestly don't know but think about this...logistics. With those winds, can't fly there in Chinooks, nor any other aircraft. Need a lot of equipment besides just manpower. Again, how to get that there? Nightmare scenario that few emergency contingency plans would even be feasible.TyHolden said:

That's what happened on sepulveda pass when I was living there a few years ago. Homeless started a fir. Luckily conditions weren't favorable to spread and they were able to get it put out relatively quickly.

An hour ago KTLA 5, local news channel, saying flight restrictions preventing fire aircraft from flying, are due to POTUS being in the area. Don't know if true, there's high winds, but the aircraft in the video was flying.

They can work at night but the winds are picking up, not dying down as usually expected. Hydrants are running dry for the folks on the ground. Helicopters using the big tranches of water cannot fly. And the big tanker aircraft with the red stuff to snuff out a fire? They cannot fly either. Fires like this create their own turbulence, even without the winds being that high. Put the two together? Aw crap conditions. Those tankers cannot fly as low as they need to in order to hit the target.Quote:
