Wow, great episode, easily the most action packed.

I really like how you can see Cohle's character going from clean cut back to narco days.

One of the best episodes of any series I've seen in a long time. The final scene was outstanding.

That last sequence had me on pins and needles. Best episode yet.

Last scene had me feeling like I was there.

And busting into that house to steal a stash was a real bad idea/business plan.

That was so awesome. For half the time you almost forget what you are watching. You are just suspended in the scene. Truly awesome.

BB was exactly what i was thinking of. No show since this one, particularly this episode, has engulfed me into the scene and characters. You get tunnel vision and find yourself forgetting you're actually watching a show.

I think the plot is not as complicated as we're thinking.

The final sequence was, in fact, one, six-minute, uncut sequence. They ran through it seven times, cameras rolling, with built-in edit points if needed.

They didn't need them.

Completely in agreement that it was "one of the great achievements of filmmaking for television." Seriously, to pull that sequence off on a TV schedule is INSANE...

As of tonight, TV and movies officially became equals. That was one of the best hours - and best sequences - I've ever seen on the small screen.

Damn it, I love Sunday night TV so, so much.

The final scene was indeed one 6 minute shot. Amazing!

Still digesting this episode. My initial reaction is that it was very good, a lot of character development, but not sure how much plot development we got after the first fifteen minutes.

Interesting comments by the husband about rich people and devil worshiping.

Huh? The last half was all an attempt to be able to locate Ledoux via his buyers. I'd say that is probably the biggest piece of plot development next to finding out Ledoux is the suspect so far for this show.

yeah, not really what I'm talking about.

I mean as far as clues as to who the new killer is or what the ultimate resolution is going to be.

I'm not complaining, just stating that they didn't really add to the "mystery" aspect of the show (not sure if that is the best way to state it) after the first fifteen minutes or so. Still a great episode.

*******************spoiler discussion for some (previews and previously posted interview)**********************************

From the looks of it, the **** is finally going to hit the fan next week. Interview stated that next week is the creator's favorite episode, and from the previews with Cohle walking out of the interrogation saying they needed to get a warrant or whatever and from other comments, I think they're finally going to level their accusations against Cohle as being their prime suspect. Also, and again from interviews and preview, it appears the framing of the interrogation/flashback exposition is going to come to an end next week.

I think we're over thinking it a bit.

I see it happening something along the lines of LeDoux dies somehow in the confrontation, they find some damning evidence, and the case is considered complete. When the new body is found Cohle becomes the suspect.

How may more episodes are left?

Very intense and awesome final scene.

But it didn't ring true to me. I don't believe for a second that Cohle would put himself in that situation. Going to steal from safe house with kidnapped outlaw is too far fetched for me.

He could have said "I'm not a cowboy anymore, just a businessman". Then they do some drug deal that turns south. You could still have the cool final long shot, but to get there was unbelievable.

It won't stop me from watching though.

I own the same Pink Floyd shirt that Hart was wearing, from the '94 Division Bell tour. Small world!

One of the greatest scenes ever. I don't care what happens the rest of the way - that. was. awesome

Having said that, something was off with the pacing and tone of the 2nd half of the episode. I need to watch again, but how did we go from taking their time methodically checking all leads and angles as their lives slowly degrade to quickly infiltrating the gang. Seems like immediately after hearing the bike gang name dropped he's giving up on all options and telling Marty "Welp, looks like our only chance to find him is to take a personal leave, infiltrate the gang and hope that they don't cut off my face and feed me my dick. Ready?"

He was also coked and yakked up like crazy

I think both the pacing and the plot are to show that Cohle really gets off on going undercover. He takes it to extremes and becomes this completely different person. Once he hears the name of the MC he goes from 6 to midnight and runs with it.

That's the entire reason for him taking the leave. He needs to know he doesn't need to show restraint and can be fully engulfed in the role.

Just a tangent here but the following seasons and new casts are going to have some huge shoes to fill.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Yeah, I don't think buttoned-up Cohle that we've seen in the flashbacks is the "real" Cohle. His history prior to the flashbacks and his history afterwards show to me that the guy we see in the flashbacks is a person Cohle has to struggle to be. His "natural" self is present day Cohle.

In that context, I don't think it's too far fetched at all for him to do something crazy and stupid, especially when he's high as hell, like Sex Panther pointed out.

I think that was the point, when they showed him going from his clean cut character that was trying to abstain from everything to his narco days as "Crash" I think the point was the emphasize that he wasn't thinking clearly anymore and had blinders to just try and get Ledoux.

Random thoughts I had from last nights episode:
I feel like this was a weird chemistry shift between Cohle and Hart, it felt like it was going against the grain for the tone they set through the first three episodes, it was almost too buddy-buddy.
Hart's ultra-blonde dying, I'm assuming was to fit-in in Beaumont better?
The red head with the tits behind the bartender at that strip club Terry's ho/girlfriend worked at was pretty attractive.
Would you count to 100 in Terry's situation or would you peak around 20 or so?

Last scene was done in one shot. Amazing.

Who get the emmy this year? Cranston or MM?

I honestly think MM deserves it. What an amazing performance he has put on in this show. There have been a number of amazing acting jobs. Woody has been great and the guy playing Charlie has absolutely been incredible int he time he's been given.

Has a single actor won both the Oscar AND Emmy for Leading Actor in the SAME year? McConaughey has a legitimate shot to pull it off.

Cranston, without question. The Emmy voters obviously love him, and the final season was easily his best performance in the whole show. Arguably one of the best television performances of all time.

IMO, Breaking Bad cleans up this year. Cranston, Gunn, Paul will all be the favorites, as well as the series for Best Drama once again.

The biggest drawback for BB is how far away the Emmys are. A long time gap could potentially hurt its chances since it will have been off the air for almost a year and is no longer the "hot show" on TV.

Will this show get its nominations in best drama or best miniseries or movie? Either way McConaughey is getting nominated.

Brian Earl Spilner has to be the new handle of Sharkenleo. I love BB and Bryan Cranston as much as the next guy, but it is most definitely not his award to win without question. Yes he was insanely good, and I would be very happy if he won... but McConaughey is putting on a show right now. And I'm pretty sure the Emmy voters will love him too.

The question isn't will they love him, it's will they love him enough to send Cranston out a loser in his last outing as Walter White?

Final seasons are a whole different animal when it comes to awards. See: ROTK at the Oscars.
