The mask drawing may be a strecth, but there is something different about that face compared to the others in the drawing. It immediately jumps out to me and makes me think of this guy

Other than being figures standing up, I still can't figure out why some of you think the beer can figures are a recreation of the Barbie scene.

At one point they are all gathered around one prone figure just like te doll scene.

Yeah. It also could be symbolizing a kings crown too. I looked at it too and noticed it could be either of the two.

Symbolism no doubt though.

Is this a product of theme, meaning, everything's connected? Or a brand new HBO show with not a lot of budget and needing to "reuse" actors?

This was a couple pages back but kind of went unnoticed. Seriously, no way that it is a coincidence that all these people were victims, all were in Dora Lange's class, and all went to a Tuttle school. Also, is the guy who looks like the teacher the landscaper?

The first picture in that link is a page from a notebook (either Dora Lange's or her friend's). The line is "In Carcosa, In Carcosa, Strange is the night where black stars rise." Carcosa was a city from an Ambrose Bierce short story called The Inhabitant of Carcosa. In it, the city is barely described and is only viewed in hindsight after its destruction by a character who once lived there. The next time the city was used was Robert Chamber’s book of horror short stories from 1895 entitled…..The King in Yellow. I freakin' love all this stuff.

Mask, beard, scarred neck, regardless it's likely a specific person.

attempt at humor. And speaking toward myself as well.
I comb through this thread and others like it reading all the theories. And most of them are out there, well thought out, but mostly likely false IMO. Just a little internet teasing

House Divided: I know it's obvious to us, but in reality, you are talking about a girl that disappeared, a boy presumed gotten by gator, and a grown woman murdered years after leaving school. I don't think that anyone but Rust sees a ominous connection

To be clear, I'm not suggesting it gives any new evidence or anything crazy, but I just love the way everything ties together and the clues and hints the author leaves throughout the entire show. It's really, really brilliant.

The ability of this show to make the viewer feel the pain and angst of the characters is another thing that sets it apart from and above the norm.

Specifically, Dora Lange's husband when cohle tells him he partially caused her death.

The tent preacher whose life is basically over because of the things he saw supposedly righteous men do.

And the scene with the rescued girl was amazing to me. When she breaks from her catatonic state and shifts her eyes to meet cohle's and just stares at him for a long time. Then when she loses it and is afraid of everyone and everything. So powerful.

What's in the storage shed - my guess is his ledger/notebook. He kept it at all times and they called him taxman because of it. He probably has all the answers in there. And he won't give it up.

Re watching from beginning - Woody/Hart says to Rust at crime scene -" this sounds stupid but you have to come over for dinner, you gotta meet Maggie- you just have to. "
Why then, why so urgent to meet Maggie??!!
Something to Hart and Maggie and FIL having knowledge of the cult?

this was very powerful. First thing I thought of was the quote from last week - " I can see your soul at the edges of your eyes. It’s corrosive, like acid. You got a demon, little man." Another example of cohle dealing with the torture going on in his own head as the catatonic girl is set off by staring through him

They've been partners for a month already. Maggie just wanted to meet her husband's partner. These Maggie/ cult theories are great

Caught ep 6 on my DVR tonight. Heading in but looking forward to reading the past 2 days' reactions tomorrow.

For those of y'all guessing that Beth would run back into Rust, good call. I had been skeptical.

That wife though....her role came out of left field in this "investigation."

That picture looks like it was drawn by someone watching a guy w/ a beard wearing a hood fondling a grown woman with her hands bound behind her back. That's clearly not a smile on her face either.

I don't think it necessarily means the girl was molested herself because that isn't a little girl in the pic. It looks more like a scene from an S&M or rape film than it does a little girl drawing herself getting molested. Nor does it look like what little children think of when they imagine "sex."

In the drawing, is that woman wearing panties or is she completely naked? (It WAS the '90s)

This is the best one yet. Rust needed to meet Marty's wife because that's the way wives are. Not EVERYTHING is some way connected. They do have to do some character building every once in a while.

Underrated posts:

"Dat assssss"

"Dat azz"

Even though people called and thought that Cohle and Maggie would eventually sleep together pretty early, no one had to think it'd be like that.

Another great ep with great scenes.
