I guess I just found it weirdly coincidental that he would run into her randomly years later

Yeah last week was Haunted Houses. Is that what's scheduled for tonight?

tonight is all new. Your guide is wrong if it's showing the wrong title. DTV has "After You've Gone" as the title

Oh man, oscars or True Detective live!? Sophie's choice. I'll probably save TD for my after-Oscars desert.

Think this is what I'm doing as well. There will be Oscar spoilage galore on Twitter, but my feed is pretty good about not spoiling anything on TD. So I'll probably go live with the former.

If you chose the Oscars you are doing it wrong

Does anyone have a screen shot of Remus after he says, "My familys been here a long time..."?

The sheriff that they get out on the boat. Who was he in 95 or 2002? I don't remember him at all.

That's a great Townes Van Zandt song they ended with.

The sheriff on the boat is the guy from 95 that got onto Chole when Chole told some of the guys to check out some bars or johns or something.

Striking similarity to Randy Hickey

Maybe that's what happened to Earl. Randy hit him with a car to shut him up.

Posted this a few pages back, but look at the school picture. Lots of characters in there. Ladoux. Marie Fontenot. Dora Lange. The crazy chick who killed her kids. And the spaghetti face man? Top right of the school picture looks like him possibly.

Lawnmower man always seemed like best candidate. But I can't believe that Rusty wouldn't have remembered talking to him, those scars were memorable. Unless his face was covered by mask the first time, I don't remember.

I have tough time believing they kidnap a sheriff. It wouldn't have been that hard to figure out who was Tuttle's grandson with scars all over his face.

Well the problem was that he wasn't Tuttle's grandson by traceable lineage. He is essentially a ******* that was just herded amongst the rest of the family.

I'm guessing the scruffy beard hid his face scars when Cohle was talking to him?

I thought this was a very, very slow episode that seemed almost out of place with the pace this show had been going at. I did like the look at their ****ty lives since they've stopped being hotshot detectives and it seems like this is both of their last hurrahs, which is probably why they kidnapped the sheriff because what is there really to live for with either of them.

Also, all the speculation appears to have been for naught as Cohle was just hanging out in Alaska for 8 years until he came back and robbed Reverend Tuttle.

I thought he had a beard when Cohle met him in 95

Edit: confirmed

so the lawnmower guy is the head honcho?

nothing new in this episode about Marty's father-in-law or what happened to his oldest daughter.

there's a lot to wrap up in the final hour

I absolutely loved tonight's episode. From the final goodbye Marty gave to his ex-wife, to the haunting conversation they had with Tuttle's maid, to the juxtaposition of Marty and Rust's lives, to the ending song. I thought the episode was beautifully done.

The old black lady said old man Tuttle (Rev's dad?) had many women...didn't like em after the first go round (virgin fetish?)...hence the propensity for having so many kids.

When asked if he (old man Tuttle) had any kids/grandkids with facial scars, the old lady said a grandkid...a Childress (******* child)...fit that description...scars done by kid's dad.

Sheriff Childress...who the fishing boat ex-CID was deputy under (and who is now sheriff of that same Parrish)...certainly must be related to scar face (his Dad?)...who appears to be lawn mower man. And it's apparent the ex-CID is in on it.

It appears the Tuttle's...and their VERY extended family (via promiscuity/abuse)...run up and down the bayou in LA. Their power and exemption from authority, seems to have drawn in like minded men with evil in their hearts.

Sounds like a history of abuse beginning with Grandpa Tuttle...then protected by Rev, Senator, and Gov Tuttle...all the way down to ******* grandson lawn mower Childress/Tuttle.

Bayou/Santeria cooking....prominent family with a penchant for depravity...and protection from nepotistic power at the local and state level...

And sounds like one of, if not both, Rust and Marty will die to ensure the end of the evil.

It certainly sounded like Cohle intends to off himself after the crack the case.

It is looking like there will be nothing more on Marty's daughters (or the father-in-law).

I think there is a good chance they don't catch this guy. Or if they do catch him, several of those involved remain at large.

I loving the show. been binging on it since yesterday. alcoholism seems to be a big part. I know drinking is big in LA, but damn, how many times will Woody say he hasn't drank in a while?

Heart still racing after this episode - a lot of suspense.

Never thought about all the missing persons from Katrina in 2005 gave the killers free reign to chalk up missing persons to the hurricane.

Watching this show makes me crave cheap beer.

What kind of boat was that in the final scene? Significance?

And is Sheriff Childress going to lead them to the hunting camp or to lawn mower man?

For a moment I thought Woody/Hart could still be in on it and when he thought Rust was getting close to solving it and went with him to the storage shed, he was gonna shoot Rust for getting too close.

To me it just spoke that the entire time they've been hiding in plain sight...just an extension of the scene with the detectives being right there yet bailing and going on.

probably, either directly or indirectly.

Seriously? Wow, I just don't get where some of y'all find the ways to interpret these things. You thought Marty was in on it at that moment? If you were going to think one way, it should be that Marty thought Rust was in on it. But both would be flawed.

No he's not the head honcho. He's had his issues covered up by prominant family members that are part of the group issues they're harboring.

And there's nothing to cover with the FiL or the daughters because they'll have/had ZERO part in it. That was character building for Marty....had nothing to do with the murder.
