TC, Have you tried Dropbox? My company uses it. Not sure if its because we have a corporate account or what. Share files through an FTP site.

Sex Panther, I think Nic was working at a restaurant or bar in Austin and the chronicle had an article about local author making buzz with new book. And I saw it mentioned in esquire.

Just watched 7. I knew it was the damn lawnmower! You could see some of the scars through the patchy beard (and my suspicions grew much stronger when rust went back inside that school). But what do they have up their sleeves for the final??

Been reading this thread from the beginning. What an awesome show!

I wanted to comment on how the soundtrack to this series is fantastic. The ending of Episode 7 with Townes Van Zandt "Lungs" was perfect.

The best incorporated song during the show I would have to say is in episode 4 when Rust is gearing up to go undercover with the biker gang. The transformation we watch him go through is captivating. We also simultaneously see Marty and his world come crashing down with his wife/family after being kicked out.

The song I'm speaking of is:

Lucinda Williams - "Are You Alright?"

It's perfectly played at the moment with Rust is in his apartment and the lyrics and melody are what make it so fitting.

If you don't remember exactly what I'm talking about I encourage you to back back and watch it and listen to the song. It's a perfect song for that part of the episode/show.

This show is absolutely amazing work in all aspects, but this part was something that really stuck out to me.

I have looked for Lone Star every time I am at any store or gas station now. No HEBs up in Dallas. I CAN'T FIND LONE STAR. HELP.

I see it at almost every grocery store and gas station around where I live. I know for a fact Park It Market has it bc I bought some last Sunday to drink while watching the show. I guess I can never say product placement doesn't work.

I personally get more inspired to drink Jameson rather than Lonestar when I watch the show. You see Jameson almost just as often.

there's something about jameson and cops, every time I watched an episode of the wire I wanted to drink jameson.
Kind of like every time I watched an episode of Mad Men I wanted to go and smoke a pack of snags.

Funny, every time I watch Mad Men I want to marry a woman so I can cheat on her with *****s, other married women, and the teacher of my future daughter.

it'll be interesting to see how many of the lawnmower guy's accomplices go down in the finale. Obviously it took 2 or 3 guys to string up the 2012 Lake Charles victim on the bridge.

I think the job of the bar owner with the rifle may be to take out Geraci and the other corrupt law enforcement officers as Rust & Marty uncover them. That way Rust & Marty (if they survive) have an alibi

Great article from Vulture today recapping all the potential suspects...

http://www.vulture.com/2014/03/true-detective-suspects-list-finale.html

And a level-headed, if not phenomenal theory from Paste a couple days back...

Like Pizzolatto said, 85% of the story can be gleaned from the pilot, and I'm now convinced Cohle planted Dora Landge's body (as has been speculated a bit here before). Hopefully he didn't kill her, but it was definitely his way of getting this investigation going, potentially having something to do with his own daughter's death. Any chance that was actually Cohle's daughter on the VHS tape?

Re: that Vulture article, can anyone explain exactly how a few of these characters are connected?

There are THREE Tuttle boys, right? Billy Lee Tuttle and Sam Tuttle are brothers, and then Eddie Tuttle is their cousin (and mayor of Louisiana)? Or do I have that mixed up? And is it Sam Tuttle who is more closely related to the Lawnmower man? Or is the Lawnmower man a b*stard child of Billy Lee? I can't recall exactly how the Lawnmower man is connected, bloodwise, to all this.

Also, I might as well go ahead and post three of the scripts I mentioned yesterday, in case anyone wants a refresher before the finale or wants to do some weekend reading. Sendspace seemed to be the easiest method...

http://www.sendspace.com/filegroup/w1SUgW02TKFH7rQ2WpuARDV42O5z1ZXA

- The first pdf is Pizzolatto's original draft of the pilot, the one he likely shopped around before HBO came on board.

- The second pdf is Pizzolatto's production draft of the pilot, which is the one used for shooting.

- The third pdf is Pizzolatto's unnamed draft of the second episode, which I'm assuming he wrote after HBO became involved.

Again, I'll post Pizzolatto's 10-page series pitch treatment on Sunday evening, since it contains spoilers about the final episode (which I haven't read).

Let me know if anyone has any trouble downloading the three scripts today, though.

Do we know he was actually examining it? Couldn't he have just been in a reflective mood or something?

The large stick circle he was examining was not there originally.

Also if he staged the scene, why would he waste time by making drawings of it and asking people the significance of those things?

It was a notorious murder scene, so anyone could have placed that stick circle there for any number of reasons.

And if Cohle did plant the body, asking people the significance of those things is exactly what someone would do who wanted to seem like he was legitimately investigating.

I definitely wouldn't put money on the the theory being true, and it likely won't be, but it does make a certain amount of sense, from a motivational standpoint. Either way, I can't wait to find out...

Good points.

But we also don't know for sure that Cohle was actually even investigating some of that Dora Lange stuff. Like the two black detectives told Marty, wasn't it a little suspicious that Cohle figured a lot of that stuff out on his own? Those bits we saw of Cohle pursuing leads via various casual interviews and what not could have easily just been made up by Cohle. Those bits were told from his perspective, after all, and we know he's lied in the past.

Again, the more we talk, I've come down from being "convinced," but there are still plausible ways to explain away some points.

Yeah, I already addressed this when TC posted this theory. Cohle was genuinely perplexed with the stick figures, and even questioned the black preacher (lestor freeman) about them, which makes no sense if he staged it. There is 0% chance this theory is true.
