Protesters at the ICE building in Minneapolis are pouring water on the road. I guess they want it to freeze and then the agents can slip and fall when they come out? Or they want some car to lose control and plow into somebody.

Hmm. Two can play at that game. Borrow a firetruck and lightly mist the crowd with water in subzero temperatures.

It's getting so cold that pretty soon Jussie will need to make a 2am run for Subway!

We typically added antifreeze to the tanks on the engines in the winter…not sure it would work…

There's a LOT more video of this event.

It won't turn out like the left wants...

You think that matters to a jury in Minneapolis?
Remember, it's a jury of Renee Good's "peers" - These are the same folks who convicted Chauvin.

Doesn't matter. It will be a very short "trial" with no defendant. You can't sue the Feds for this.

The ICE officer is protected by qualified immunity, but he is not protected against a state judge who rules that his actions disqualify him (e.g. violation of the perp's Constitutional rights).

They would lack jurisdiction I believe.

Federal officer doing federal things going to be governed by federal laws.

At least that's how it should be.

Well all I know is that The Hubs would do aircraft fire rescue training in Duluth during February and then next year in DFW in July. How much sense did that make?

Ok, I know a former LEO who is being sued because a judge ruled that he is not protected by qualified impunity. His department was protected. I do not know if that can happen to the ICE officer. Perhaps Tom Fox knows...unless the moderator gave him 30 days on the beach.

Ianal, but my understanding is that anything case brought by the state would be sent to federal court, then likely dismissed on immunity grounds

I can remember my days as a field geologist doing environmental work being the same way. We would be out in Laporte in July and August doing work that required poly coated tyvek suits over the top of nomex fire ******ant suits in supplied air respirators and then back out in a different unit of the same plant in December, right on the shore of the bay getting sleeted on with a howling north wind while only allowed to wear a nomex coverall, nothing inside or outside of it.

My sympathies. Funny story about the Duluth trips. There were several Hispanics on the same team and shift with The Hubs. They were in a restaurant and a little boy was walking by with his Mother and asked, "What kind of men are those?" Zap (short for Zapata) leaned over and grinned, "We're Mexicans from TEXAS!"

Not a whole lot of the amigos up that way, I guess.

I lived in Detroit for a while in the early 90s and we went to one of the few mexican restaurants in town back then. They looked at us like we were aliens from outer space when we asked if they had chile con queso.

I had the same experience at a "Mexican" restaurant in middle Georgia. I knew the guys were Mexican because I heard them speak Spanish.

"Can I get some queso?"

"What?"

"Queso? Chili con queso?"

"Huh?"

....uncomfortable silence....

"Uh, cheese dip?"

"Oh yeah, man. We got cheese dip."

Brother in law and sister in law took the wife and I to a Mexican restaurant in Georgia called El Real Mexican Grill. Taco Bell had better food than that place. Couldn't wait to get back home to Texas.

Is this a woman with a crappy beard? Taking a non lethal round to the eye socket would definitely hurt but would it do as much damage as they claim?

That would be a federal Bivens civil suit. There are some big roadblocks for such a case with a federal LEO during an official federal mission. Immunity issues also arise in that type of case.

Bottom line: Clean shoot. No criminal nor civil liability, ultimately. Sure some idiots will be all stompy foot about it but it will be shutdown at some point.

Sidepoint: Good's estate would be on behalf of her minor children. Second husband is dead. Oldest two children have been in the custody of their father for quite awhile now. He would have to institute suit on their behalf.

IDK but don't think he has the appetite for that because of what it would do to his children. But and a big BUT since there is no record that Rebecca is actually Renee's legal wife, he can sue to stop the GoFundMe monies from being transferred to her.
