Any guesses on when the show and/or trailer hits? At this point I'm assuming no show this year? Can't remember when the first Witcher trailer hit relative to the show.

Most speculation is a fall release with a full trailer some time this summer. They have to finish filming the last two season one episodes. But they have already started writing season 2.

Just finished book 1 on my re-read. Knowing the end, it really is amazing how well the groundwork is laid for the entire story. No doubt it could've been four or five books shorter but that journey was fun.

I haven't even looked at one of the books since I read the last one when it came out. Maybe it's time before the show hits.

Watched this yesterday and was hyped to see an early look at Moiraine. Was kind of a let down. Not even a full look - just her face. And where is her blue stone she wears in front of her forehead?

Not technically series related, but Back Pew Brewery in Porter is doing some Wheel of Time themed beers for their 5th anniversary. They recently announced the first:

As one of our three beers dedicated to the Wheel of Time Series, we felt that Rand needed to exalt royalty. Thus, we chose a Belgian golden strong as our 5th Anniversary beer. We fermented it in fresh toasted American oak barrels for a fluffier marshmallow flavor to help mellow out some of the Belgian notes. You'll also get some clove on the nose and pallet from the yeast, along with some exciting effervescence from bottle-conditioning!
Not sure if I'll drive that far to get one since it's brewery only, but I'm sure someone is in that general direction. Definitely digging the label design.

I have re read the series in its entirety 4-5 times. But I would read the entire series up to the release of each book for its premier. So I have probably have read book 1 -3 around 20 times.

Read a rumor that they will be cutting the 7 Ajahs down to 6 to avoid comparison to the seven kingdoms from game of thrones. If true, we won't get gray ajah - which doesn't really upset me.

I seriously considered rereading it immediately after I finished it last year. It's a lot for sure, but I definitely expect to read it again. Looking forward to seeing what I'll pick up on the second time.

Could really go down to 5... red, blue, brown, yellow, green... and maybe even cut brown and toss Verin in the blue.

Can't remember if it's been mentioned before, but this article mentions in passing that season 2 is going to start filming immediately after season 1 concludes, so looks like we'll get at least 2 seasons. Hopefully more!

Wonder what the rationale is on this. Did they like the early returns from season 1 and feel good enough to greenlight this or was this always the plan? Happy to see we're getting 2 seasons minimum.

Betting they wanted to give it at least a couple of seasons because of the scope of the series, initial investment they needed to put into it, and the built-in fanbase.

I do remember reading that the decision to start filming immediately was to make up for the time lost from covid, which will allow them to put the next season out more quickly.

I will quote and maybe also paraphrase some of the responses that Rafe gave:

  • Topic - Response

  • Average running time of each episode - "These eps are epic, so we are clocking in between 50-65 minutes each"

  • Character that doesn't appear in S1 that does appear in S2 that he is excited about - "Starts with an EL" (Elayne)

  • Seeing the actual weaves on screen versus just seeing the end result of channeling - "You're gonna see it all if you're a woman who can channel" (Purposely left this answer vague I guess, but it does tie directly into the actual logistics of channeling established in the story in that only channelers can see other channelers actually channeling if I remember right. But who knows how they are going to handle this in filming)

  • Will we see Narg? - "Yep" (I can't remember this one exactly, it's one particular Trolloc I guess?)

  • Trolloc types created for show - "We leaned into the books and tried to have the trollocs have as much individual character as possible. My favorite is the one we call Betty"

  • Loved the first look at the Trollocs! When are we getting more? - "Sadly there hasn't been a first look at the Trollocs yet. That was some accidentally leaked raw footage. We work so hard to make the show it's always a shame when you guys see stuff outside the way we have it planned. I'll tell you one thing, when I met with directors for S2 who'd seen the pilot, they all had one thing to say - "THOSE TROLLOCS!!!" (Did anyone here see the leaked stuff he mentions? I honestly don't remember that)

  • Book per season or adaptations and inclusions from multiple - "We have to combine [it would take too long otherwise]"

  • Lan's Cloak - "I love Lan's cloak in the show. But much like Aes Sedai agelessness, if it's an effect that's going to cost a fortune every time a character is on screen, it's a bad use of our money. Unless you want to see all of S1 in the Winespring Inn. Then you can have color changing cloaks "

  • Have you started writing S2 - Yes...been working throughout year and already have some scripts ready to go

Could be, but isn't Elayne one of the ones that hasn't been revealed yet as a casted member? I have to think it's her.

I think it also could be that he's referring to the letter "L" which would probably be Lanfear. I think Elayne makes the most sense, though.
