Yep. I have now turned my brain off of the books. This series is now a full adaptation of the books.

Wow… that really sucked all the way around Rafe. And I do blame Rafe completely. These changes don't even make sense. The characters are straying further and further away from the books as well.

Super hype with the cold open of 3000 years ago and they even screwed that up. I'm a huge fan of the series so will never stop watching but geez this sucks.

It's pretty clear that the writers have decide that for every action a man takes in the show, they need a female to have a similar action. It's written all over the show.

The books are clear that only Mat, Rand, Perrin are Ta'avern (or however it's spelled), but it also makes it clear that the 2 women are "part of the pattern." That wasn't sufficient so they make it all 5 of them.

Can't have the boys save the say, so needs to give the women some sort of super power that they don't have or give them special abilities to track down others.

It's clear they can't have the men and women develop at different paces and so here we are with a muddles mess.

Seriously, we got a 10 second explanation that he had to hold some sort of small totem in his hand and it would make him channel 100X stronger. Okay, kinda hand-wavey but I can accept that. Then the final battle with the dark one was done in a dream while Moiraine and the Dark One stood there just….talking to each other? Then Rand wakes up and zaps him away.

I don't get the bit with the stone. And if Moiraine realized that wasn't the final fight, why didn't she chase after Rand to tell him there was more to fight? Surely he couldn't have gotten too far? I'm very confused about how the last 20 minutes went down.

It was a hot mess, that's for sure. And it's all Rafe's fault.

It's kind of sad but I can't think of a single fantasy series I have seen recently that I would put this show above. The source material I vaguely remember being really good for the first books so I want to rank it higher but…

GoT (excluding final season which drops it into the toilet)
Witcher
Arcane
Shadow and Bone
Ragnarok
His Dark Materials
Carnival Row
Wheel of Time

I just started S2 of The Witcher after rewatching S1. I've never read any of those books and find it more enjoyable.

They built up going to fight the DO the entire season, with very little payoff. Moiraine was stilled but a non book reader doesn't really know what that means. She sheds a few tears but there is no feeling of what it actually means.

It felt like they found every excuse to throw some bones in for the book readers, just to keep stringing us along.

I think it's pretty amusing that the book readers hate the show, as if the books were written by William Shakespeare Reborn. I've read them and they are… legible. They're basically if the chick that wrote Twilight decided to rewrite Lord of the Rings.

You read more than 11,000 pages, more than four million words, of something you found...legible?

Color me...skeptical.

Wow, I really wanted to like this show. Have read the books (except the last one) and really love the story. First couple episodes were blah, kinda like the build up. I was so looking forward to the finale- but man it fell way short. Everything has felt too rushed from the beginning, but cramming all that into one episode was crazy. About the only thing I enjoyed was Lews Therin and the Dark One. Plot has completely left the books- hard to figure how a series of this length can withstand all the changes and be (somewhat) true to the books. If they wanted to write their own show, they should have.

Yeah. I don't see how they string out 8 seasons after introducing dark one and Seanchan in S1 finale.

What are the next big things that could happen?

Hunt for the Horn (and Fain)
Falme - another "DO" battle, horn sounds and Seanchan are repelled
Tear - Callandor and DO/Forsaken battle, intro of the Aiel
Does the Waste happen after Tear? Or is it Cairhien(sp?)?
Elayne and brothers meeting - I thought that could happen at TV, Mat shows quarterstaff skills to beat Galad/Gwain with Rand watching and talking with Elayne. I guess it could still happen if Rand goes to find Mat at TV.

I don't mind that elements of the story were changed, but the execution was pretty poor imo

Amazon reviews are 3.5 stars. Sounds about right. I've watched the series more as a tourist admiring book scenes and character come to life.

Did that last episode remind anyone of the last season of GOT? What was the point, why aren't the channelers helping the army at Tarwins Gap, who conjured up that dream sequence instead of Rands friends being assaulted as the catalyst for his channeling?

The season had its moments, but it just finished as amateurish in my honest opinion.

They've been setting up the dream sequence all season with their forced romance between Rand and Ewegene. It's post of the issue with making them older than they are supposed to be.

The ending with Rand balefiring that Forsaken was awesome (was it Ishamael?) Much more clear than the book though imo. I love book one but to me the end was always confusing.

Don't think Nynaeve was dead.

Not sure what they are doing with Uno, Masema and Loial all being left for dead.

Seanchan and Mat scenes to set up new season 2 storylines.

Was Moiraine actually stilled or just shielded?

Looking forward to season 2 personally but it seems like I'm in the minority.

I'm still looking forward to it, for sure. I never expected this tobe great, and overall I'd say it's fine-to-good.

Yeah I feel like it was fine, but they needed at least two more episodes to fill the season out. They can't just sit there and load up on 45 minutes of exposition each episode, but they can't rush it either. The only reason most things made a lick of sense was because of my familiarity with the books and being able to see how and what is getting adapted, and even then it was a stretch at times.

Final two episodes were total garbage and it has become clear that the show creators care more about telling thier own story much more than staying true to the source material. Lots of liberal/SJW propaganda bs in the show as well. Robert Jordan would be rolling over in his grave if hw could see this. As a lifelong fan of the books, I am disgusted.

The 3.5 stars on Amazon is roughly accurate I would probably do 3/5. Worth it if you are bored and enjoy fantasy but nothing about the entire season really stands out as awesome.

Amateur hour. No idea what the whole wisdom jumping in the pool thing was for, no explanation for the heron marked sword, every character is pretty bland and doesn't really hook you in, cavalry charge into a fortress.... to dismount. I've seen penguins have warmer romances than Lan and Nynaeve.

Will be surprised if there's a season 3.

I'm critical of the last episode, but I am still looking forward to season 2. Hopefully they slow things down and make it a bit more understandable for those of us who haven't read the books.
