Game of thrones powers are almost all external. WOT powers are mostly internal. The dice in mats head, LTT in Rands head, Perrin's thoughtfulness and struggle with the Wolf, the colors that show them to each other are all going to be things tough to translate to screen.

Don't forget Min. That one will be interesting to see.

Has she been cast yet? I'm worried she will get written out.

She's supposed to appear this season. IMDB says 2 episodes, so should see her this week

Kae Alexandre is cast to play Min Farshaw. Apparently she was on GoT's as well.

She was "Leaf" the Children of the Forest when Bran and Bloodraven were doing their thing (and sacrificed herself to help Bran escape).

Ep 6 35 mins in... Lesbian action and her going down on her?

Wtf

I'm watching a fantasy drama... Not that type of fantasy drama. I got the gay hints earlier but hell Amazon you're starting to infuse this a bit much since it never needed to and in normal situations wouldnt take these turns

The books are full of gay stuff... Moraine and Siuan are noted as hooking up in New Spring.

To get all pearl clutchy about that scene is a bit much. No where near as raunchy as the Renly/Loras *slurpslurp* scene

Just got caught up. I'm still enjoying it. The later episodes have been better, I think not using as much CGI has helped it not seem as cheesy as the first few episodes. I don't mind the plot changes, as long as they are kept consistent throughout the series. The biggest issue I have is that some of the actors just aren't as good as the rest of the cast.

Either I'm misremembering (it's been over a decade) or Wheel of Time is gay af. Lan was gay with the green warder, heavily implied in episode 5. Plus the obvious lesbian scenes in 6.

What did I miss when I read these books?

I mean, touching the source is pretty explicitly describing orgasming, so you got to make it as saucy for the show watchers. Now get in a circle with me.

I did not get that impression about Lan. Alanna's warders are clearly banging one another and her, but not Lan. Also, there were Plenty of mentions (or at least hints) about the others, such as Moiraine.

Robert Jordan just didn't write raunchy. Sex scenes in the book are all sorta *fade to black, next scene* except the first time he hooks up with Aviendha and even that is pretty tame compared to a lot of authors.

He never gets super pedo by describing pillow friends graphically.
Touching the source, like Champ said
There are at least 3-4 mentions of "doesn't like (women/men) that way" that I can think of
Aran'gar is either bi or trans or both

When Rand hooks up with Elaine after the three girls establish their connection, you get the description by proxy through Min

Is the Aviendha one you brought up when Rand and her are in Seanchan? Don't they teleport there and get stuck in a tent in a huge snowy area? Man I am hazy on these plot points.

Thoughts on episode 7.

DISLIKES:

Kind of annoying that they were able to protect themselves against Machin Shin, and that it's Nynaeve who hasn't been trained.

Others have mentioned it being odd that you have to open the waygate with the power, and there's no explanation for how Padan Fain gets in and out.

Min is a bit old

Wasn't really digging the Blight, but it may have been easier than trying to make it appear more like the books.

LIKES:

The Aiel fight scene

I liked the scene they had with the E5-1, especially with Rand sticking up for Mat. Nynaeve's braid tug was the perfect end to the scene too.

Lan surprising Nynaeve

Learning more about Malkier

The Flame/Void technique

Realizing it was Rand that channeled in the ways rather than Egwene

Yeah it was fine. Since they finally revealed Rand then we can get on with better characterization instead of the "mystery."

I do wonder what they intend to do with Mat's character in season 2, I have some worries with how they have characterized him so far.
However, nothing that has happened yet would really prohibit any of his main story points going forward.

This episode is going to be GREAT!

(Of course, recap has to show the lez scene but FF works every time on Prime.)

That episode was the best so far for me. Character development was much better than previous episodes. I hope they can keep it going this strongly.

The intimate relationship between Rand and Egwene still bothers me for some reason. I think they could have shown them being close but not sexual and still make their future dynamic work just fine.

Regarding Min, she is a bit older than the others in the book, so I'm guessing they did that to keep it in line with the others? Also, the actress is only 30, so guess another part of it was giving her a bit of a worn, ragged look, someone who has lived a hard life.

Tam finding Rand was awesome! I hope we get more scenes like that we don't directly see in the books.

Also Tigrane kicked some serious illaner ass, good way to show Aiel are not to be f'ed with.

Heard some speculation that they may kill Moiraine this next week. Have a hard time believing it, it who knows with all the deviations from the books.

For all of the recent talk about how George Lucas ripped off Dune in making Star Wars, the Aiel are an unabashed copy of the Fremem.

When I tell people about WoT who have not yet read the books, I describe it as a mash-up of three works:

  • Dune
  • Lord of the Rings
  • Men are Mars, Women are from Venus

They definitely borrow from it, but there is quite a bit different as well.

All those stories are just another turning of the wheel.

I wont go so far as to say it was necessary, but with the speed they are moving along, the writers probably felt it needed to drive home their closeness and how they always assumed they would be together. a little lazy perhaps but ultimately not a big deal and will help with Rand's future dilemma/situation
