How long do you want to ignore this user?
I've heard episode 6 is the best one so far.

PS: Does anyone think the Seanchan will be cut? I think they probably should as they take away from the core characters and are generally detestable. Other than contributing to Egwene's development (which could be done differently), they don't really add that much (Tuon sucked, they do appear in the Last Battle but it's not like they turned the tide like the Rohirrim). Anyhow just my thoughts.

I think that is one of the easiest cuts. Them and the people across the waste. Drop mentions of them

I was hoping for a non-spoiler preview of Episode 6 on wotseries.com but no luck

Seems like doing away with the white walkers in GoT.

In hindsight the WhiteWalkers were underdeveloped and underused but I don't think you could get away with not having them.

When you say across the Waste, I'm assuming you mean Shara and not the Aiel (who've already been mentioned and obviously have a big role). Another change that I think would be an improvement is have Taim be Demandred like Jordan originally planned.

of course. No need for them, the Ayyad and Sh'boan or Sh'botay or demandred bringing them to the last battle.

I agree that the Seanchan are likely gonna be gone. Not sure you can really do away with the Aiel, though, since it ties into Rands heritage, as someone suggested above.

I think the complaint is that with the way they ended it, you basically could do away with them. Part of why the last season felt terrible.

I'd be surprised if the Seanchan are cut. They give characters like Mat and Egwene things to do for a good chunk of the series.

Definitely some surprises in this episode…

Interesting to see Mat not going with them in the Ways. Also surprised they didn't have Loial open the waygate, but I guess the more important thing will be him navigating the Ways.

Also really odd that they called the Eye of the World the Dark One's prison.

Quite a bit of tower politics but was a good change of speed before two action packed finishing episodes.

I'm not against Morraine and Siuan being adult pillow friends but hope we don't lose their relationships with Thom and Gareth later on.

Alanna and that bosom representing that green ajah very well.

The Siuan backstory was a pleasant surprise, not entirely needed but worldbuilding is important.

Mat hanging back was a surprise as well, maybe we get a quarter staff fight out of it al least?

Loial should have just walked to the waygate.

Pumped for the next two!

Apparently Moiraine and Siuan were pillow friends in New spring. Never read it though.

I'm assuming the later relationships stay the same. They made it seem like Moiraine and Siuan were in love, but maybe the will clarify later that they love one another but aren't in love. They could point to how their plans and history as novices, along with not really having time for any other relationships, made them "placeholders" for one another. Siuan even referenced the impact of being the AS.

What is there for Mat to do solo? It doesn't seem like they are going to include the horn and his big thing starts in the waste.

Not sure why the tweets don't embed for me, but some possible info on Mat at the end there.

Edit: Subsequent tweets in that thread make it seem like he's guessing.

I thought episode 5 spent too much time on Stepin, but otherwise these last two have been pretty solid. Tower politics is such a massive part of the series, and I think they're portraying it well.

Very excited to see what they do with the Ways and the Eye of the World. Didn't love that they called it the Dark One's prison, but we'll see where that goes.

It's still not clear after his qualification. Is he making that up or did the actor really not return for filming episodes 7&8 after covid?

I really don't know. Jason at Dragonmount is pretty connected, but it does sound like he could be guessing. Not sure we'll ever know the full story. I imagine they'll work Mat back into the group very quickly in season 2 somehow.

In the books they are there for a short time before the tower splits and they go off with the rebels. I think that was sometime after Tear, which also puts it after the waste. Now that I think about it, she becomes a wise one apprentice before becoming a novice. It's going to be a while.

Just for future reference, remove the question mark and everything after it, and they should embed.

They become novices/accepted early in book 2 after the EotW and before the go anywhere else. They leave after the Amyrlin orders them (and Elayne) to go. The split from the tower doesn't happen until later.

You were just thinking of the 2nd time Egwene was a novice, after she was captured by Elaida. (The Gathering Storm)

Correct me if I'm wrong but they were novices (Nyneave went straight to accepted due to age and power) after returning to Tar Valon via boat after the eye of the world events.

They get tricked into going with Liandrin into the ways where they are captured by Seanchan in Toman Head all the while a hunt for the horn is underway.

They return to Tar Valon after the big fight with Mat in tow to heal him of the dagger (Vernon is accompanying them and tells her first lie).

The third book, TDR, begins with Egwene, Nyneave, Mat, Elayne at the tower before Mat leaves after winning dice games left and right. The wonder girls then are ordered by the AS to track darkfriends. Rand and Perrin are already on their journey south.

I was holding out hope for a while since Brandon Sanderson had said episode 6 was his favorite, but after that episode I've just given up hope.

The dagger was handled way too quickly. Yes, I understand that you want to accelerate Mat's development to where he's an actual interesting character, but having Morraine just solo heal the corruption in a moment trivializes the power of Shadar Logoth. And they don't even foreshadow the change Mat has, no whispers or visions of the past, no speaking in tongues, no knowing things he shouldn't.

Opening the Waygate with the power? Let's even ignore the fact that the Waygates were made with Saidin, and that women can't channel in them (which they will conveniently mention in the next episode, I'm sure), so opening it with Saidar makes little sense. How do the Ogier travel between the Steddings?

Using the Oath Rod to enforce a punishment? Swearing to the Seat in any capacity? Convoluting it into an obvious marriage vow in front of the entire Tower, when Morraine and Siuan are supposed to be hiding their relationship? This makes an absolute mockery of one of the most significant events to happen in the series! Robert Jordan's coffin must be made of titanium, because this alone would have been enough for him to come back and rip this production to shreds.

And that's just for this episode, without even going into the Power Ranger Dragon theory they threw in there. There's way more I could go off on as to how this narrative structure was made. This isn't even the same series anymore.

It's in Tear where Mat gets the memories when he goes through the door frame to visit the foxes or snakes. Is the dagger that causes the gaps in his memories that he wants filled?

I agree about the Waygate, it didn't make much sense to have Moiraine open it. Although maybe it was to allow Mat to be left. In the books it required just putting the leaf back, but I guess it makes sense.

The rebel white tower had the sisters swear to the amylrin seat, however the hell you spell that. I think.

What was the power ranger theory you mentioned?
