Elayne is not bad.
I think Min is worse than Egwene though.
Not referring to her hotness, but I think they did a pretty good job casting Aviendha too, other than her skin color not being book accurate. I think the actress is doing a good job.

I think they did a good job on most of the characters but a couple. The actress playing Egwene is pretty awful. Also, very disappointed in Loial. I know it would be expensive to have him as a CGI character but I always pictured him much larger in the books than what they are portraying him. They also don't give him the proper sense of humor and youthful bashfulness that made him so likeable in the books. I wasn't too sure about Perrin at first but he's starting to fill out that roll. The actress playing Nynaeve is just as annoying as the character in the book. Easily my least liked character who Jordan gave waaaay too much attention to trying to flesh her out in the books as somehow interesting.
She pulls on her braid a lot less portentously and is less imperious in the show. The former comes off more as a tic than a defining characteristic repeatedly recounted as in the books. She's still pretty unlikable, but I think the show version is less so thus far.
Yea I'm exaggerating some to be funny - I actually think both Egwene and Elayne are mildly pretty (ie they aren't going to make your friends crazy jealous but they're definitely nice looking). Nynaeve, Avienda, and Min, though, are mid. And not mid for Hollywood, but mid for some random college classroom in Iowa.
Well episode 4 was the episode I have been waiting to watch since they announced the series. Other than a couple nitpicks and one eye rolling woke stupidity, it was about as well done as I could expect considering the medium they used to portray it.

What "book" is season 3 running through? I put quite marks because I figure it may develop "some" storylines from different books in the same season.
First 3 episodes seemed like trying to combine book 3 and 4

This show actually gets better and better unlike LOTR I got bored of and quit already last season.
This season does seem to be better. I really need to watch the first few episodes of S1 to pin down exactly why. Probably a combo of things. Off the top of my head:Madmarttigan said:

1) Knowing the characters more, and more/better actors in new roles
2) The overall look and feel - dirtiness of the costumes, sets, etc vs the sterile S1
3) The older age of the younger main cast - seems to suit the "importance" of their roles better the older they get.
I think the way it is shot is significantly better.

Just finished episode 4, that was a damn episode!
Completely agree about it being 9/10, with only one scene that just took me out of the moment.
Actors just seem more comfortable, the world building, I wonder how people who haven't read the books view this one. It was heavy on the history/lore.

Seems like they are really condensing Nynaeve and Elayne's story through several books. Like that idea a lot. No idea where Mat fits into this.
My one critique about this season is that Mat seems way too competent. He is way better as a character when he just continually fails upwards through luck.

Has Mat done much other than the quarterstaff fight? Seems to just be tagging along for the most part while saying old tongue things.
It would appear they are going to have Mat get hung, get his full memories this season maybe with Elayne/Nyn there to save him. They also hinted Nyn's cure for being a wilder while on the ship. I wonder if they will do anything with that this season. Maybe if they have her fight with the forsaken she surrenders so she can always channel.

In the first episode, when the black ajah broke into the 13th depository, you can see one of the twisted doors that leads to Aelfinn land. I'm hoping the second is in Tanchico (instead of Tear) and Mat walks through it.
I am really enjoying the moghedien portrayal. Very creepy and unhinged. Another a solid episode. I've seen enough that I now hope there is a fourth season.

Me too, although I'm kind of doubting it happens. It doesn't seem like there is any sort of buzz around the show, even though this season has been better than anything I've watched on Amazon since Fallout.
As an aside, I saw a pretty hilarious Reddit thread a few days ago with people arguing about Morraine's hat in this season

That was a good solid episode. There I said it finally. Aviendha's light sabers and Rand's fight with dude at end were awesome af.

Seems like she was ripping his soul out basically leaving an empty shell. Don't know why she needed permission though.
Moghedien in this show is a perfect portrayal from the books. She makes me ill with her evil.
She's great. I love the low stakes evil things she does too, like mama birding chewed up food into the middle of that cake.

Netflix certainly would have preferred the mind control method to paying Ryan Gosling.
Well that was unexpected and will anger many of the book fans. A solid episode, but a significant departure from the books.

No doubt. Perrin has significantly leveled up and he's accidentally killed 0 love interests in current fights with the enemy foot soldiers.
Blunder seems harsh though for something he clearly still regrets.
I tried to start watching this on Prime and I can't get to S1 E1, it only goes back to S1 E3 or 4. Any ideas?
No one knows the Great Pattern Amazon weaves.
