I thought they did a good job with him in some parts this season. When he made that ***** joke about the white tower I about died. And of course the training ground scene. I think they got about 60% there...just needed a bit more to really refine his character.
Wouldn't be my first reproductive organ joke about Tar Valon...

Solid episode, now for the changes!

I completely understand cutting out the tower in exile arc, that would have been too much to manage in this series. From what I remember her only real purpose was getting Egwene in as the amirylin of the exiles and getting eventually healed of being stilled.

I was hoping they would have Mat get his spear, but maybe it'll be later. The way they portrayed the Foxes was really cool, maybe in Tear we'll get to see the snakes?

Moiraine fighting Lanfear with the most powerful sa angreal and losing was a bad choice. They established it with its own backstory about how powerful it was but yet wasn't enough.

The Rand actor was nails on the reveal to the Aiel, great scene. But again, it was the rain that made people believe? Why not go with the book's explanation where all the chiefs said he was the real deal because he actually did see their origin. Maybe they had run out of budget and couldn't have another battle between the Aiel tribes. The rain was used to break up the fight, oh well.

I guess we know Tear is the next season, which still leaves the possibility of Moiraine/Lanfear fight when they fall into the Snakes doorway.

Here's to hoping for a season 4

Sort of. In the books, Mat steals the dagger from Shadar Logoth in Book 1 and starts to be corrupted by it. At the start of Book 2, he's going to be brought to Tar Avalon to be fully healed and freed from the dagger, but Padan Fain, who I think had been tainted by Shadar Logoth by this time, steals the dagger and the Horn. Mat can't be healed without the dagger so he's part of the hunt, but is going through withdrawal. He gets the dagger back at the end of Book 2 and is healed either at the end of Book 2 or in the first part of Book 3.

It was there! It's a bit of an Easter egg so I won't give the spoiler yet. Rewatch his main scene and see if you can spot it.

Season 3 started off so strong but the finales have been letdowns. Enjoying it for what it is but I agree this doesn't even qualify for another turning of the wheel.

Seemed rushed in all the wrong places namely missed potential in Tanchico. Mats character should be able to carry the show as a fan favorite and it feels like they have no idea what to do with him somehow.

Jests aside Elayne has come across as the most bland of the three, which is funny since she's the one least objectionable to the anti-Benetton crowd.

Just watched the finale last night - another solid episode. Season 3 was the best so far! If I'm being honest, I don't recall a lot of the details from the books. I stopped after 8 or 9 or whichever one Jordan stopped at before eventually dying, and have never even thought about a reread.

All that to say that if the show is deviating from the books, I don't give a **** as long as it's done well.

It's kinda difficult to see Siuan's Red Ajah rival without seeing her as Avasarala from The Expanse. I keep expecting an f-bomb or six every time she talks.

Similarly, it's hard to see Lanfear as anyone besides Mrs. Tommy Shelby from Peaky Blinders.

The problem is that it deviates AND it's not done well. It's a choppy show. Too bad hbo or Apple didn't pick it up instead of Amazon.

THAT'S WHERE I RECOGNIZE her but keep forgetting the tie-in. I've fing watched Peaky Blinders 5...6 times...

You only get to make a first impression once. Show was doomed after the abysmal Season 1.

It's a shame for what could have been. Actors were fine it was the show runner that completely whiffed.

Dang. Sucks. I do agree that S1 really set the show up for failure.

I haven't watched S3 just yet because I am actually in the middle of a random reread right now. Wanted to reread book 1 and I wasn't able to stop at just that book, ha!

Not surprised. Seasons 2 and 3 were much better than the s1 dumpster fire, but they still weren't that great. Pace was too slow, they beat you over the head with woke every episode, character development was very meh, and a lot of the acting was far too melodramatic.

I was one of those who tuned out after season 1 and never gave it another thought, I just happened to see the cancellation and hopped in here for reactions.
You can't grow an audience once you drive the prospective audience away, and it was just bad in a variety of ways. It seemingly got nothing right to where you were like "if they just fix 'x' it would be good". So no reason to give it a second chance. Sucks for the book fans, but another cautionary tale on bringing stuff like that to screen, the source material isn't enough to guarantee a hit.

I think if I owned the rights to a beloved series of novels, I would probably not hire the guy who is looking to do his own things, instead of faithfully bringing all of that to the screen.

Amazon fired the studio head as well. Amazing that they have squandered expensive IP they purchased for both Wheel of Time and Rings of Power. The viewership for Rings of Power is probably just as bad as WOT.

Whats unfortunate is I dont think the "woke" aspects of the show are wrong. They could have made all those same casting decisions, but just had good writing and acting instead.
