On Book 7 of the re-read......might just read the book summaries of these next few....trying to finish before the show starts. I don't remember hating the Egwene arcs as much as I do now.

You know who might be the biggest badass in fantasy history? Lan. If they get one character right, I hope it's him. Well him and Mat. Mat more for the success of the show. If they adapt him as well as GOT did Tyrion people will love him and the show.

Just read that the restart filming the last two episodes tomorrow. Also read that they will have some reshoots from the first six they already filmed. I think that's a good thing. They were in post production during that shut down, saw some things that didn't work or could be handled better and are taking the time to fix them.

I'm guessing a summer release next year.

Egwene had some supremely badass moments, but I really grew to not like her as the series went on. Nynaeve, though, has one of the most satisfying character arcs in the series, and probably has the best single moment in the series. "Will he ride alone?"

I think part of what makes WoT so great is the multiple detailed character arcs. This isn't just a singular character that you follow around with a bunch of supporting cast. It's a whole slew of "main" characters. It's been a long time since I read them all, but I still remember the overall character arcs okay I think. I was just about to name a "top 3", but realized that was dumb and I'd be leaving off some great stuff!

Completely agree with Nynaeve's arc. Her and Lan are collectively two of the best characters.

Egwene definitely has awesome moments but her storyline becomes a drag. Her time with the Aiel was great.

Always amazed at how much I loved Egwene and didn't like Nynaeve at the beginning, and how their respective arcs flipped those positions by the end.

Me too. I am still shocked at her death - that event which I am 100% sure Sanderson pulled from Jordan's notes, affected me as strongly as anything I've ever read. I think it was the slow burn of development for really all of the main characters that did that.

This is funny. I am close to the end of book 5 and find Nynaeve painful and Egwene is with the Aiel and has a great story going.

I didn't dislike Egwene toward the end, but she was more likable before. She had a really awesome stretch toward the end though when she was a captive in the WT and then defended it against the Seanchan.

Yeah she was an awesome character but comes across as arrogant and is unable or unwilling to have empathy for many of the other characters. Mainly nynaeve who she treats like crap to keep from getting in trouble with the wise ones.

Still though, has a few of the best moments of power usage towards the end though.

Pretty far along if I remember right. The best place I've seen for little bits of info is honestly on IG with Rafe Judkins and his stories there. He seems to answer questions from time to time there. Anyways, there was talk of season 2 prep already from him....but I honestly can't recall specifics of what. That's the only problem with the stories for something like this!

The greatest moment in the book is when Mat kicks those 2 guys ass with the quarterstaff and tells them his dad is the real expert.

Just finished a complete read through. I originally started reading them on the 8th book; I picked up a lot of the earlier ones at bargain book sales. it is amazing how seamlessly that Robert Jordan crafted the series and how well Brandon Sanderson was able to complete it.

In regards to the change, I am not sure how I feel about the change to a guitar from flute and lyre.
